Boston Acoustic G2

what's up guys,

i just bought a Boston Acoustic G2 12 and it sounds AWESOME. it is 300w RMS and i am pushing it with a 300 RMS Alpine MRD-M300, and it is one of the cleanest subs i have heard for the price. it was only $179. just thought i'd spread the word if anyone was looking for some inexpensive, good, and loud bass. i recommend it over the alpine type-r, which is all i have used in the past couple years with the exception of some weak kickers.

UKinstaller,

I currently have 12" Alpine Type R and have been considering selling it with my tranmission line enclosure I custom made for it and trying another sub such as the BA. With the enclosure it is in now puts out lots of SPL and hits the low notes really well, but I like tighter sounding more accurate bass. That is why I put it back in my 1cuft sealed enclosure, but I am already going to be purchacing a pair of Boston 5.25" coaxials and I was wondering how much better the G2 sound compared to the TypeR quality wise not just pure bass.

Also, what size/type of box are you running the G2 in and what kind of amp is powering it?

Thanks,
Jay

Jay,

the quality of the boston, and i am a big fan of alpine, is better than that of the type-r. it just sounds better, that's all there is to it. it is a bit louder, too, and the bass is VERY clean. i strongly recommend it. it is my first boston product and i am very impressed.

i have the G2 in a 1 cubic foot, sealed, box, and am pushing it with an alpine MRD-M300 amp. it is a 300 watt RMS amp, and the sub is 300W RMS, so they are perfect for each other. i am going to put it in a ported box i have lying around to see if it sounds any better, boston says it can go either way. i will let you know the results. any other questions just holler.

Sound likes a good sub. I have a JBL 300.1 and it also puts out 300w rms so it to should be a good match for the G2 as my type r was.

The only other question that I have is do you know anybody that is looking for a 12" Alpine Type R in a custom built transmission line/vented enclosure built to Alpine specs. directly from their tech. support ppl. Its also only 5 months old LOL.
