Are we talking a 4 channel amp for the front/rear speakers or using the HU to power the rear speakers and a decent 4 channel amp for the fronts and subs here? So many ways to go ya know....

ELABORATE... ARTICULATE, SPECULATE... Uhmmm what does he want to do here? (more details would be most helpful pls.)

Do you have a budget number in mind? Also, what subs does he have now? With addition details, we can get some ideas up on the screen to guide you and him to a successful install.

he wants a decent 4 channel amp for the front and rear 4x6's. 12 inch shivas for subs, not sure what kind of amp on it though, he has a kenwood deck, so he said hes mainly focused on just getting power to his other speakers, for a pretty good price. he said it doesnt have to be the best, just decent. budget range, he wants to find a decent 4 channel for around 300 bucks, if he can.

How will he power his Shiva's? These are 8+8 DVC's and do very well with amping power between 300-600 watts RMS to the pair. However, the sub amp should be separate from the 4 channel amp noted.

Most guys use a Class D or T MONO amp for subs as they draw less current and have higher output than 2 channel amps. Also, Class D amps can manage 2 ohm loads well. A normal 2 channel amp WILL NOT!

FYI: He can use the rear channels off the 4 channel amp to power his subs. But he would need to wire 1 sub to each channel. That's a 4 ohm load per channel with both coils in parallel. Not much power that way.... but he could also bridge the rear channels and run both subs series/parallel. An 8 ohm load here... but safe for the 4 channel this way.

An alternate plan would be to use only 1 Shiva, wired in parallel to the bridged rear channels. This would net a 4 ohm load and safe for the amp too.

I don't know if they are available online yet or not, but there is a newer company out called quantum audio that makes some pretty good amps. I compared the 1000.1 that we got in last week to the other amps we have and it is built as good or better than most of them. It has an adequately sized power supply, rubicon caps, and is very eye friendly unlike most low cost amplifiers. It has a brushed copper and black finish with chrome emblems. We have the 1000.1 for $299, the 700.1 for $229, and the 200.2 for $199.
Definitely worth looking into in my opinion.
