Help my fuse keeps blowing!

Hi,
I have got a 1997 Peugeot 306td and I have just had a clarion 4x51watt stereo fitted (by the shop) and its loud!. My speakers don't max out with it but I am having problems with the fuse on the main car box. At the minute it is a 5amp fuse in it and it keeps blowing when I have it loud, so it kills the power on the stereo, but the fuse doesn't always blow at the same level. I want to know if I would be able to put a 10amp fuse in aswell because it is also the fuse for some lights inside the car and the clock, I don't want to blow them up!
I would appreiciate any sort of help, please.
Cheers,
Scott

well the size of the fuse is probaly why its blowing this deck can pull more then 5 amps on its own likly at high volume then the pull of anything else hooked to this fuse added to that.. if alls this fuse is hooked to is the Deck and some lights then putting in a 10amp fuse should nto hurt anything, or plan B could be run a seperate power wire stright from deck to the battery and fuse it seperatly.

No problem good luck and hope it works.

PS
if it still blows the fuse when its a 10amp fuse something bigger may be at work here. so watch for that.

if he is a mechanic you might want to ask him if it that fuse does protect anything else that would be damaged by something larger then a 5A fuse... If there is not I would put at least a 10, normally a 15A....

Is this a fuse in the main panel or an inline fuse to the new HU? Most HU's draw 10-12A. of current at full power. A 5 amp fuse is way too small for most aftermarket HU's made today.

If this is a fuse in the control panel, the installer tapped the wrong feed. Most installers use ACC/IGN tap in the box as the HU power tap. Anything less may blow the fuse. A cigarette lighter is an option too. Some work with the key out, while others only have power in ACC/IGN positions. This circuit is usually fused @ 20-25A. A 10A fuse from this tap to your HU will be fine.

Comments there ttocs?
