wow thats a tough order. you wont find many quality decks with the options you want. for under 200$ CAN thats around 140$ american... maybe JVC, or Panasonic

thunder57 on 09/23/2004 22:07:15
Alright, how much would I have to pay to get a cheap decent deck? What kind would that be?

i just don't see it happening my man. that's a lot to ask for that low of a price. might try hitting up ebay and see what's on there.

Actually..

this is a amazing discovery I have made from my hours of research in the past. It really helps to know where to buy from. Unochronos is right. Panasonic is the way to go.

The Panasonic CQ-C5110U is very reasonably priced with the options you need Mp3, 3 preouts, 25w x4 RMS, Alphatuner V, High-pass and low-pass crossovers, and even CD changer controls. So it's got a lot high end features at a great cost on www.ikesound.com it runs for about $135 + shipping.

The other compeditor would be the Pioneer DEH-P4600MP XM radio-ready, 22 watts RMS/50 peak x 4 channels, CD changer controls, Super tuner IIID, Plays MP3 and WMA files recorded on CD-R and CD-R/W, the only downfall is this one has 2 preouts instead of 3. You can also find this on www.ikesound.com

good luck

I will be glad to help with any install questions ect..

Well I plan on buying the deck of e-bay, they have some good deals on there. What do you think of JVC, I seen some nice ones? eg KD-AR3000 http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50559&item=5722232092&rd=1

hey chronos do you know how to download screensavers onto Pioneer DEH-P750MP ?

uochronos on 09/28/2004 03:21:20
http://www.pioneer.co.jp/car/pclink2/

a whole web site dedicated to downlaoding IMages, meters, and movies for your HU. i'm sure it says how to get them onto your HU as well. also i could not find the Manula for your deck. but assuming you haev it or can get one it well say so in there as well.

Seems not everyone likes Sony, but eBay has 9 listing for CDX-F7705X that meets your criteria. Looks pretty nice to me.

uochronos on 09/28/2004 17:12:34
Sony is around 30% on average mroe expensive then similar brands with similar features. they do not make crap but its not up to par for the price. i have owned 2 sony's a 300$ one and a 200$ one i liked them both but one broke because of the automated face plate, and the other one didnt have the features i needed. also i would say both where overpriced by at least 50$.

basicaly if you find one with all the criteria you want for a great price and its new. go for it but dont expect it to be an amazing deck,.

stay away from motorized face plated

also sony decks get stolen alot IMO becuase they are extrmly flashy looking. my best friend lived with me i left my face plate on my deck everynight its a pioneer premier 300$ hu my friend had a 180$ sony Xplod HU his was stolen and mine wasnt touched. he bought another Xplod HU and put it in a differnt car and they stole it again not 5 feet from my car. people look in an see mine its a black HU with a few buttons they look into his and see a Red, Silver, Black, and chrome HU with SONY XPLOD in big letters across it and big flashy nobs and buttons. which would you steal. my HU is worth more and has more features but it does not catch your eye...

Geezer on 09/28/2004 18:33:05
I agree with your sentiments about flashy units; I don't like them. Simple appearance looks much better to me. I've owned a Sony ES cassette head with CD changer controls and loved it. No flashiness, but loaded with features that were almost intuitive to access. (In fact I still have it, lol - but got a Kenwood MP3 capable unit that I use now). "Most" of the newer Explod line look almost comical to me, but to each his own.

well..

everytime we give you a suggestion it seems like it's not the right one. We're just trying to help you out so you actually get a quality one instead of a cheap one.

You should look back over all the suggestions and than pick out one thats the closest to what you would want and than say what you'd perfer weither it be 1 different feautre or just lookng for a lower price possibly the next model down?

or just stay with the current kenwood mp3 player...

uochronos on 09/29/2004 05:27:02
ya i'm a bit confused as well seems less like your shooting are ideas down and more like your bnot sure what you really want. you say you dont like flashy but your the one who brought up the sonys hehe. not trying to rub you wrong here just a little confused on what advise you want at this time.

Let the guy think a bit... this is a free site and opinions are fine to share... but he has to pay for & live with whatever choice he makes.

Uhmmmm, Thunder? These guys have a good deal of experience on what does and does not work. It's in your best interest to take their suggestions seriously under consideration. From this side of the board, it is "VERY FRUSTRATING" to do the research, hand out solid recommendations and then have the reader going on his own boon-doggles.

Yes, you are free to do that... but please respect our time and talents. Many of us have been at this a while and know what does and what does not pass muster. There's good reasons for the choices we show you. In short.... don't bite the hand that is feeding you OK?

I think there's some confusion here. Ya'll are replying like I started the thread asking about a HU. I just pointed out a Sony model advertised at under $200 and then agreed with Chronos about the perils of flashy decks. That agreement is followed by 3 posts chastising me for not following the provided advise. I didn't ask a question, lol, I offered a possibility to the original poster. Seems many of my posts are misconstrued; might be time to go back to read-only mode.

thunder57 on 09/29/2004 20:58:23
Well thanks a lot for the help. I'll keep a look out in pawn shops and such for the decks you mentioned. Couldn't do this without ya.

swez on 09/30/2004 10:30:16
Good nuff... no confusion here. Just an observation that needed to be clarified.(re-focused)

Seems like price is the major driving factor on Thunder's part. We all understand that! hehe Well, try to avoid off brands if at all possible. They are cheap for a reason... they cut corners in performance, features and reliability. That's why we suggest going the extra mile for a well established brand like Pioneer, Alpine, Rockford, JVC and the like.

Good luck in your search and let us know how you make out OK?

Swez

PS Geezer... your points are well taken and it is your right to make any point that is relavent to the needs of the original post. Not picking on you at all Bud! Relax.... just trying to keep the topic focused so all parties are remaining on the same page. If I offended any of you... it was not intentional. Forgive me if I did offend... that was not the intent.
Thanks! This is a free country... we're not in Russia right? (or are we????) USFLAG
