I didnt think this out to clearly. But my friend just recieved his 2 10" Dual 4ohm Infinity Kappa Perfects 10.1D. Now we're getting a mono amp but i want the net load to be 2 ohms is this possible. To do this I would wire each sub in series/parallel to keep each sub at 4 ohms then wire both subs in parallel with each other would i get 2 ohms? So for each sub (+ -, + - ) on each vc then from one sub to the other (+ +, + +, - -, - -) Replies (8) alanjlamore on 09/14/2004 23:19:37 Here's a website that explains a bunch of wiring options. I think the one you want is in the middle of the pictures and is labled "(2) 4 ohm DVC speakers = 4 ohm load" http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/ISEO-rgbtcspd/learningcenter/car/subwoofers_wiring.html?view=all Hope this helps, Alan swez on 09/15/2004 00:06:04 Ain't gonna get 2 ohms with these. One or four ohms is your limit with 2 (4+4 DVC's). Can buy a Class D amp that is 1 ohm stable though. That will work.... or a 2 channel amp, bridged MONO for a 4 ohm load. These are your only options. Swez ryan on 09/15/2004 13:27:26 Thats what i thought after my friend got his subs the other day. So now i need to try to find an amp thats 1 ohm stable. Im having troubles posting new topics so i'll put it in here till i start posting. Off hand does anyone know if the JBL GTO 601.1 amp and Infinity Reference REF610A amp are 1 ohm stable? It doesnt say it in there manual or on either of their websites if they are. Im waiting for JBL and Infinity to email me back if you guys dont know. Thanks Also if you somebody can make a new post for me to get admins attention about this because it wont let me post a new topic and this is the message i get: Posts can only be made 1 minute apart. Last post recorded was at 22:59:33 and now the time is 13:15:23. uochronos on 09/15/2004 14:42:29 thats a new feature so that the site cant be spammed again. obviously if its that far apart its not working properly i well try and let walt know for you. ttocs on 09/15/2004 15:32:04 the JBL amps will go to 1 ohm, but be prepaired to run some 4 awg at least.... The 1 min post must be having some issues. Walt added this after last weeks little prankster had nothing better to do.... I am sure he will work the bugs out. ryan on 09/15/2004 17:37:22 I just got an email from infinity saying there amp is 1 ohm stable and ttocs said the JBL is also. Now i know i'll be able to wire the subs in parallel to get 1ohm. So now its deciding if my friend should get the Infinity REF610A or the JBL GTO 601.1. There both rated at 14.4V and the 610A puts out a lilttle more power. This amp will be for his 2 Kappa Perfects 10.1D. We will get the amps off ebay so for around $200 for either I think he should get the Infinity sense it puts out a little more power and to keep the Infinity theme going. Also they pretty much have the same options on the amp. What do you guys think is this a good choice? I know the JBL would be good but i havent heard anything about the Infinity amps so i would like sum input please. Thanks again everyone for all the help. swez on 09/15/2004 17:37:25 If you can get a line on the older JBL BP-1200.1D or 600.1D amps, both are 1 ohm stable. HiFonics makes a few and maybe Orion as well. Best choice is off e-bay. Infinity, JBL and Crown are all part of the samed parent company... Harmon Intl. Am sure they exchange technology on a regular basis. Crown has designed many of the new amps for JBL and probably Infinity as well. Am sure either product line will be more than average in performance, reliability etc. BTW, if you are having problems posting to board, might want to make a new screen name (Ryan_2) and re-enter as a new member. That may solve your posting problems unless it is server related. (your server issues) Swez ryan on 09/15/2004 17:47:01 Alright swez thanks. I'll have him get the Infinity then. Yea we were looking for those older JBL's but we had troubles finding the 600.1. And i'll try a new screen name later but now its time to go to work and stock the shelfs.
