well i just went shopping around some local stores and was offered a deal that i only have a few hours to think about. its a alpine CDA-9830 factory refurb for $200 canadian. this seems to me to be one heck of a deal seeing as how on the alpine website the suggested selling price for them for $330 american. does anyone have any info on this HU or any experience with it to tell me if i'm getting a decent deal on a decent HU? Replies (8) uochronos on 09/14/2004 03:24:47 alpine makes fine quality decks. as with any refurb it may have scratches and what not. and the warranty is usualy 30-90days instead of a few years. also its usualy a limited warranty. i personaly have a refurb deck in one car and a refurb amp in another car and they both workm fine and have not had a a problem. basicaly its a good deck at a great price. and i personaly if it was a factory refurb and no miles on it since refurb would go for it if i liked the deck and needed one:) hope this helps. oldmazda on 09/14/2004 20:01:01 alrite well i was wrong... the model number on this deck is CDA-7893 i thinks its almost the same deck the only difference is that this one does not play mp3s. its in imaculate condition zero scratches or anything and it comes with a 20 dollar 2 year warranty coverage. i still don't really know a whole lot about it though so if anyone could share some insight it would be appriciated. ttocs on 09/14/2004 21:44:50 what are you wanting? We can give you the specs, but you probably read them already. What are you replacing? IMO-can't go wrong with alpine decks..... oldmazda on 09/14/2004 22:30:34 well what i wanted to know is if anyone had anything to say about the deck. if there were any problems with it, or if it is a bad idea to go with a refurb deck. and because it is a refurb deck it didn't come with a owners manual so i haven't really had a chance to read up on features and things of that nature. also i was wondering about some of the wiring this deck has 3 av jacks and i don't really know which one i should be attaching to my deck. i'm pretty sure i can use the same wiring harness as i had for my old pioneer but i wasn't all that sure if they are compatible or if all wiring harnesses are the same. i was just wondering about things of this nature i've just been in a really big hurry lately so i didn't really have a lot of time to ask all of the questions i wanted to. alanjlamore on 09/14/2004 22:43:04 If they're willing to give a warranty, I don't think you'll have problems with it. I've had refurbed equipment before and it played great with no problems. But having said that, I would still make sure to buy the warranty if it's only $20, just in case you do need it. I also have an Alpine deck and after doing a lot of research and finding many people's oppinions, I believe that these are the best decks you can buy. The only difference between the model numbers is usually just different features or looks. Same great quality and signal output. Just my opinion, hope it helps. Oh yea, here's the manual in .pdf format: http://ecominet2.alpine-usa.com/html/asb/owner/cda-7894_om.pdf swez on 09/15/2004 09:12:27 If you can demo the product, see that all is in working order and the appearance is acceptable, then a refurb is certainly worth considering. If it has the feature you need/want and the price is right for your budget, then this is a good deal. The 2 year warrantee is worth the 20 bucks. I too have bought refurbs at reduced costs. The amp has worked flawless for 3 years. A JBL 2 channel for subs and a Peavey CS-800 I obtained for free. Yes, there are a few minor cosmetic blemishes on both... but that's not an issue. Good luck. Swez PS If the seller is very anxious to sell it... offer him $200.00 out the door w/ 2 year warrantee and see what he says. uochronos on 09/15/2004 14:49:22 ya definatly if they are in a hurry to sell low ball em a bit. i bought a Phoenix Gold 500.2 amp about 2 years ago and it was the last model(discontinued PG at that chain of stores) that any of there stores had and it was the one off the demo wall. they wanted 50$ less then normal for it and no warranty. so around 400$ for it. i talked them down to 350$ + a 5 year warranty and a full Phoenix gold wirrng kit... amp has worked great no problems at all. ttocs on 09/15/2004 15:29:58 and just as an fyi the pioneer hrns will not match the alpine. Who put in the pioneer? Did they use a aftermarket hrns or did they cut the factory one off? And I also have bought referb's, and probably will again. $20 for a 2 year is cheap...
