Well, I'm finally saving enough money to add to my sterio and since I have a 4 channel sony xplod amp with 75 wrms per ch powering my CDT speakers, I figgured that should go first. It's also starting to get white spots on the top of it, kinda like a battery (AAA, AA, C, D...) that's leaking. I don't know what it's from and I don't think anything has spilled over there. Anyway, I know a lot of people here have these speakers, so what kind of amp do you use, or do you know of any that are better for the buck than yours??? I usually look on crutchfield for specs and buy from ebay, but I know sometimes crutchfield doesn't sell some of the good stuf and some places have specialls and sell cheaper than ebay. I'm looking for something that will realy allow the CDTs to play at their best. Thanks, Alan Replies (4) alanjlamore on 09/11/2004 19:08:11 Oh yea, I'm also looking for a good rear fill speaker. I'll probably just use the HU to directly control them and use a 2 ch amp for the CDTs. Are there any speakers designed just for rear fill so the highs aren't being pulled to the back? swez on 09/11/2004 19:14:55 Consider MA Audio Amps. Zeb sells them at reasonable prices too. Really, 80~100 RMS per channel is plenty of power for them. Besides, if you get too big an amp, current draw can become a problem that costs a lot more to upgrade than an amp. That specking you noted may just be Aluminum Oxides (AlO2) building up on the case. It often comes from amp heating up, cools down at night and sweats. This creates an acidic mixture that leaves spots and grunge on bare aluminum. That's often the problem in cooler climates. You may be able to clean it up with buffing compound we often use to pull grit and oxides off car paint jobs and chrome. Once clean, wax it. They have the same signal to noise ratio and the same THD %, and they're both 100X2, but the hk297 just had more stuff written about it. When I looked at thezeb's prices, the hk297 was a little cheaper, but it was on sale and the other one wasn't. Just making sure I'm going to get the right one ;) Thanks swez on 09/12/2004 07:42:58 Seem the same to me too. The HK297 has all the main features and power needed. Lower price too. Works for me...
