Well .. of course i get all my stuff and it cant just work out right. I got my 2 MTX Thunder 6000's (brand new). I hadnt gotten my second amp yet and I wanted to try them with just one. I ran the wires from both of them into the bridged slots to try them out, and when i went back to see if they were working only 1 worked. My initial thought was that i did something wrong and blew it. But i took it out of box and re-ran the wires and everything and I cant get any sound out of it at all. Not even a blown sub distortion sound. Did I do anything wrong with the wiring? I just ran the positive and negatives from each sub to the pos and neg on the amp (bridged). Maybe they just gave me a bad sub, but it was brand new. This SUCKS ! Replies (5) swez on 09/9/2004 17:37:56 What amp is that you are using here? Check your amp with a known good speaker at low volume. Make sure the amp is still working. If yes, then connect one 6000 sub and see what ya get, then the other. If both subs are good and amp is good, it may be that bridging is the issue. Swez uochronos on 09/9/2004 17:38:46 it wont even work with just it hooked up? even if you wired it wrong it would have made noise for awhile.... i would say it was a bad sub if you cant get any sound out of it. Black_Rob on 09/10/2004 02:54:58 The subs were hooked up to the same amp the same way .. i tried them individually as well, and one didnt work and the other one did ... is there anything you can do to a sub to make it totally mute .. my understanding is a blown sub would atleast make distortion .. could i have fried a wire or something .. i just turned it on for the first time, let it play for 10 seconds .. walked to the trunk and saw that only one was hitting .. so something could have happenend but iono what it would be P0werLifter on 09/10/2004 02:59:30 sounds to me like you got a faulty sub,,,running it for 10 seconds would not create any damage like this so i reccomend sending it back for warrenty work or exchange for a new one Jason swez on 09/10/2004 08:39:14 It could be something simple like a tinsle lead to voice coil came loose or more complex as voice coil wire separation... a factory defect. Sounds like your amp is working properly though right? Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
