Im going with the 2 Shivas. There rated each at 650w max. So Im thinking of a an amp that puts out 600w max sound about right guys? Bought should I go mono or a 2 channel amp. I'll be wiring the subs in parallel to get 4 ohms. But swez mentioned something about a 2 channel amp. I always thought you use a mono amp because there more effiecent and that there meant for subs.

Id reccomend going with the JBL BP 600.1. Personally I would reccomend going with a Mono amplifier because their way more efficient and well suited for subwoofer applicaitions.

With a 600 watt amp run at 4ohms you should net somewhere around 450watts RMS total...that'll leave you with around <225 watt RMS per sub. That will be plenty thump for you, and you also will not have to wory about upgrading your cars electrical system. 450watts / 13volts = >34amp draw. Your stock alternator will probably be around 100amps. Figure 50-60amp draw for your stock electricals so that leaves you with 40-50amps to play with. You should be fine. But if you do notice your lights dimming at high bass output, upgrade you battery to a high CCA battery (850++ cold cranking amps) that should help.

I think that covers it for me, the others will be along shortly im sure.

You can still find them on ebay, There are other good amplifiers out there, just have to shop around. Whats your budget as far as an amplifier goes? Then we can recomend some other one that will be well suited for your application GRIN

The pair of Shiva's will be very happy with an Class D MONO amp of any quality brand that can deliver 600-800 watts RMS @ 2 ohms.

There are other great amps out there too... Rockford, JL, Kicker, Infinity and HiFonics, just to name a few. Just be aware that as the output watts get larger, input watts needed also grows. The JBL 600.1 is underrated and will actually deliver more power than listed in their specs. But this amp will draw close to ~50A of current at full power. Any larger amp will draw even more. Take that into consideration, no matter what amp you choose.

Swez

PS Hey PL, your math is a bit off this time on current draw. Have to factor in power input divided by efficiency.

600/0.9 = 666.66 watts input divided by 13 volts = 51.28 Amperes.

A 2 channel amp will draw even more current to produce the same watts output.

600/.6 = 1000 watts/13 volts = 76.92 amperes

That's why we recommend Class D or T amps.... more efficient for subs in the current draw department.

My mistake, Swez, ive been tired lately between working 30hours and taking 16units at college, ive been a bit tight with time. Pardon my mistakes, ill try to rethink my math b4 posting.
