According to the manual provided with these subs you can use them in Vented, Sealed and bandpass. Wich ones you guys recommend? I will be building the box I choose according to specs so if anyone knows which is the best I could use let me know. Also in my head unit I can pick 2 diferent types of frequencies for my subs 80Hz or 120Hz wich one should I use for these? Im running a jbl 600.1 and they hit hard I just want them in their right enviroment. Mostly hip hop would be played for this system in a 98 honda civic 4 door. Any help would be apreciated thanks guys. Replies (1) Swez on 06/14/2003 11:05:08 If using a JBL 600.1 here and a pair of 1220w's, a sealed enclosure is your safest bet. If you go ported or bandpass and get it wrong... those subs will be toast in no time. For sealed, Infinity recommends 1.25 cf (internally) per sub. This will net solid low end bass and moderate punchy bass and best power handling for these subs. See this reference sheet on the 1220w for graphs and general specification of this sub. http://manuals.harman.com/INF/CAR/Boxes%20and%20Parameters/REF1220w.pdf If you go with a ported design, the box will be larger (2.0 cf/sub) and port tuning shown is 30 Hz for best performance. A subsonic filter is recommended here as if you go below the port tuning frequency, power handling of the subs will drop quickly and can damage the subs. These are easy to find and not very expensive as well. Note: Sealed or ported recommend Polyfill for each box design to dampen rear bass waves in box, for best SQ/SPL performance. Since you like Hip-Hop music, the ported design will give you the deepest lows and most SPL between 30-55 Hz. A subsonic filter is highly recommended in this application. The filter should roll off quickly below 20-30 Hz. Harrison Labs makes several filters and they can be had for ~$30.00 a pair at: http://www.thezeb.com/caraudio/harrision_labs.html 1. 20 Hz subsonic: #900073 20hz Hi-Pass Subsonic FMOD (pair) 2. 30 Hz Hi-pass900059 30hz Hi-Pass FMOD (pair) RECOMMENDED FILTER TO USE HERE !!! As for your LP settings, the amp has a variable LP filter or you can use the HU sub filter. Depending on your intereior speaker setup, most guys use the 80 Hz option. Feel free to experiment with these options to determine what sounds best to you. If you have any additional questions, just ask! SMILE Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
