I paraled wired all these so it brung the ohms to 1.33. My amp is 1 ohm stable. The amp has to speaker terminals but it is a mono amp. I want to know if I can hook up a 250RMS/500peak sub with dual 4 ohms to the open wire terminal on the amp. How will it sound? What does anyone think? 2fastxd on 09/2/2004 23:43:45 2 speaker terminal P0werLifter on 09/3/2004 02:30:32 I would not recommend running another subwoofer off this amplifier. You are already running this amplifier to its RMS value of 300watts with your 3 12" drivers at 1.33ohms. At this load the amplifier is working at its peak performance much more of a load may cause this amplifier to go into thermal protect mode. If you want to run the 250rms subwoofer, take off your other subwoofers and run just the one subwoofer (250rms/500peak) off the 300.1. That will work fine but i DO NOT recommend running all 4 of these off the same amplifier. Swez, Chronos, ttocs and the others should be along shortly to add their 2 cents. -Jason PS. what type of subs are these? Brand? SVC? DVC? 2 ohm 4ohm what? uochronos on 09/3/2004 02:34:51 it has 2 speaker terminals to make it easier to wire multiple subs. but ti acts like a single terminal... this would not sound bad probaly. but that would be 550watts rms worth of subs playing on a 300watt rms amp... thats alot under powering them all. you wont gain sound out put most likly it well be the same or less. now also a 4+4 dvc sub is either a 2 or 8ohm load hooking that to the other terminal would be like hooking it in parrelel to a 1.33 load parrelel wiring like this well decreas the load further and you well then be below 1ohm. 2 ohm and 2 ohm is 1ohm so 1.33 and 2 ohm would be soemthing like .7 ohm which is not going to be good on the amp. and i have no idea what 1.33 ohm and 8 ohm would net i think it would be even less. basicaly hooking this other speaker up is not going to get any louder... you could try running just that 1 speaker off the amp. if it has better sensitivity rating then it may be louder then all 3 of your current subs. unsure though since i dont have the specs on that sub. i hope this helps you out. swez on 09/3/2004 13:52:20 Ditto, use either the 250 watt sub OR the 3 Lightning subs... but NOT BOTH on this amp... you'll cripple performace running all 4 subs off this one amp. Swez 2fastxd on 09/4/2004 02:16:59 wut if i bought a low watt amp for the one sub 2fastxd on 09/4/2004 03:13:28 What if i add 2 or 1 more 15" with another bp 300.1 amp uochronos on 09/4/2004 03:29:30 you would need another 300watt amp to power the second sub... really if your arnt please with the 3 you haev getting a single good sub with your current amp would be a much more effective solution/ P0werLifter on 09/4/2004 14:24:24 Agreed, IF your not as pleased with the 3 subwoofers you are currently running, adding a 4th might not be such a great idea. Running 1 efficient subwoofer may be a better option here. A single efficient subwoofer will sound better than 3 subwoofers that arnt as efficient. What make and model are these subwoofers? -Jason Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
