i recently just got a chevy astro van and when i put my subs from my cutlas supreme in it, they sound not as loud. Why is that and what can i do to get back old or better sound?and please i know you want specs but i am just curious and hate typing. Replies (4) uochronos on 09/2/2004 02:01:34 first off a big differnce here you go from having a relativly small space (a trunk) to have a huge space the entire cabin of the van. i would think this would add volume but it well also change response of subs they well perform differntly. as to why they would be quiter i do not know... but from expereince my subs sounds way differnt going from a small hatch abck (a 1993 probe gt) to a extended cab ranger. i wouldnt have thought they where the same subs had i not known they where. netrecov on 09/2/2004 02:13:39 when i had my cutlas my 2 sony 12's would rock that car apart.when i put them in me cevy astro i have to put them right behind the driver's seat to feel them like i used to but it doesn't seem like they have the boom like before. my brother in law had the same problem. he went from a eagle talon to a old dodge van . uochronos on 09/2/2004 02:33:30 you defiantly wont get the saem punchy ness as before... think about it much alrger area for the bass waves to disperse and not as close to you. you should get more low end bass and higher deciabsl in general. but i can understand not feeling it the same way.. what subs are these? and what amp is running them? maybe a smaller box may help to get the punchy feeling back. ttocs, cpkittle, and swez well be able to add alot to this tommarow. P0werLifter on 09/2/2004 03:26:02 I think you got it chronos, the larger the cab, the more low end bass your going to be able to get. What type of enclosure are you using right now? If you want the SPL you had from your older car, id reccomending going with a vented/ported enclosure. You'll get good low end, more dB's, and you'll feel the bass moreso than a sealed enclosure but you will loose some of the punchy bass response. What subs are these? What amp/how many watts you have running them? Where are the subs placed at? Are they facing towards he front? top? Back? where is the sub box actually placed at?...all these factors effect your bass response especially in a vehicle with alot of cab airspace. -Jason Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
