I'm in need of help, I have just installed a 4 channel amp into my car and it works perfectly. Until i turn off my engine and the bloody thing stays on. I learn't this the hard way and had to get a jump start from a very kind passer by. Could someone please tell me where i am going wrong

Make sure you have your remote connection hooked up on the amp so your amp only comes on when the radio comes on.(they are usually blue wire coming from radio) There should be two power connections on the amp. One for the remote and one right to the battery.

As Montego said, make sure your running the REM wire from the HU to your amplifir (the Blue Wire). From your description it seems you have a constant hot running to your amplifier REM terminal and that is why it is staying on.
Disconnect the constant hot wire from you amplifier, Go to the Back of the HU and splice in a wire to the REM (the Blue) wire, and run that back to your amplifier. WHAMMY....your amplifier now turns on and of with your HU

What kind of HU (audio souce) are you using here? Is it a factory stock radio or aftermarket?
The others nailed the problem... amp is not turning off with HU or ignition key. It needs to wether a factory HU or Aftermarket job.
Say more please....
