I borrowed my friends VR3 400 watt amp. Well, I think I burned it up. I need to know if there is a way to fix this or whatever? I had a 2 ohm speaker on it bridged, and the amp is 4 channels, and 4 ohms, so it overloaded it. It worked for about 2 hours and quit... any way to fix it? Replies (4) P0werLifter on 09/1/2004 00:45:37 Are you sure its fried? Did it just go into Thermal Protection Mode from being to hot? Did you try to reset it by turning off the HU then turning it back on? it might have gone into thermal protection mode but if its fried you might have to send it in... Some of the other guys will be here shortly i imagine to help you out moreso than i can Jason uochronos on 09/1/2004 01:52:18 Bad idea running a 2 ohm load bridged this well cause just about any A/B amp to over heat and damage internal parts... most newer amps have thermal protection circuits once amp hits a certain tempeture it shuts down till it cools down. i'm not familar with the amp mentioned or what brand it is. though. the amp well work again if it only went into protect mode it should turn back on once it is cool to the touch however if it didnt flip over into protect in time or it doesnt have that feature chances are your fried a component inside the amp,... if you are very skilled in electronic and can solder very well you can rerplace damaged compoenents yourself.. this is not the recomended thing to do though unless you are very well versed in electronics. the best option if the amp is damaged is to send it in for repair. swez on 09/1/2004 09:07:39 Did you check the fuses on the amp to see if they are blown? It may be that simple. Then again, perhaps not. Swez TheErnie on 09/1/2004 20:59:17 the fuses are fine, and it still comes on... In the protect mode... Won't come off of it though.
