From what I find, you're going to need a bigger box. Kicker recommends 4 ft^3 with a port 3 x 18 x 24.25 as a compact box and 6 ft^3 with a port 3 x 18 x 20.75 for SPL/deep bass. (They don't indicate the tuning frequency for either). Here are the T/S specs:

SPL 1W/1M 89.5 dB
Displacement 397.4 in^3
Revc 7.38 ohms
Vas 15.6 ft^3
Fs 18.2 hz
Qms 10.412
Qes 0.436
Qts 0.418
Xmax 14.5 mm
Freq Resp 23-500
Pmax 1000 watts

Your port length will depend on the diameter (round or square) as well as the frequency you tune to. Tune higher for SPL and lower for SQ.

Hope this helps.

manne are those for the 1999 series? they dont look like it because my subs manual says they have a freq resp of 18-500 and they are only rated at 500w apiece their xmax is way less than 14.5mm but thanx anyway

I typed an article that briefly covers this topic in the DIY area,
----
http://www.clubknowledge.com/Car_Audio_FAQ/?t30 ,
----
there is also an area that has the info you need to tune a ported enclosure
----
http://www.clubknowledge.com/Car_Audio_FAQ/?t16
----
A 6cuFt Box is going to be rather large (mine takes up the whole extended cab section of my truck to just about the bottom of the window..its about 7cu ft)....Usually for pure SPL, a larger enclosure combined with a large port area and lower tuning (usually around 30-40 hz but this varies with each vehicle due to the airspace in the cabin).

If you've really got the SPL bug, id reccomend building a ported enclosure say to 30Hz, make sure you use a SubSonicFilter (SSF) to cut out all frequencies below 30hz, Build the port with alot of area if your going for pure SPL (you'll need to use the equation on the DIY area to figure the port dimensions). then seal it all up, put it in your car and run a Bass CD like Bass Mechanic that has different frequency sweeps and single frequency "burps" to test the SPL output.

From there, if your not pleased with the SPL results, you can build another enclosure thats tuned to the frequency from your prior enclosure with the highest SPL output. Say your last one had the best output at say....35hz, Tune your new enclosure to 35 and you should be happy.

If you have any other questions, ill be glad to help, and im sure the others will be along shortly, Hope this helps ya

alright first of all thanx jason. i recently downloaded the winisd program and ran sum numbers with the box i have now the +/-0db mark is at 56hz and at 35hz it is at -10.5db and at 78hz it has a peak of +4db now if i tune it at 45hz with a circle port that is 4"w and 4.25"L the 0 mark is at 60hz and at 35hz there is a -12db cutoff but at 86hz it has a peak 6.9dbs but the peak of dbs ranges from 70hz out to 110hz now the sealed results 2db higher from 70hz down to 35hz so im stuck in a predicament would any plz help me out here

Hmmm..im not quite sure what you mean...i havent pesonally worked with WinIsd before. But at 35Hz its at 10.5 dB compared to 78hz at 4dB,,,sounds to me you getting better SPL at 35hz but i could be misunderstanding your information.

Sealed enclosures really shine at the higher Hz, and ported enclosures really shine and massive SPL at lower Hz, I beleive there is a section in the DIY area that covers the basics of ported, and sealed enclosures that could help you out.

As far as a ported enclosure go, If our going for maximum SPL, go with a slot port thats very large...not a circle port. Their a bit trickier to build but overall the output is better.
