Does it make a difference what you get as far as Dual Voice Coil or single? Are duals louder? What are the advantages/disadvantages Replies (3) ttocs on 08/29/2004 18:48:19 advantages is that you can wire them in different configerations to get more pwr out of the amp. Dis-advantages-you can wire them in different configerations .... DO NOT WIRE JUST ONE COIL OF A DVC SUB!!!!!!!!! uochronos on 08/30/2004 02:08:55 basicaly you can wire every DVC sub into 2 differnt ohmage louds. mattering what amp you have you want to match the subs to that. however if a speaker was SVC and aidentical speaker was DVC same power handling they should be the same loudness. just a way to get more wiring configurations out of it. swez on 08/30/2004 08:35:57 Yep, DVC's are pretty much the same sound as an SVC sub. Just gives us more wiring options to match subs to amps and visa-versa. It is good to know what amp you wish to use, then choose the sub style that gives the optimal power from that amp by load resistance. Typical 2 channel amps can be used in stereo or bridged to MONO. To get the most from these amps, you need a 4 ohm net load to amp. 1 Sub.... 4 ohms SVC or a 2+2 ohm DVC 2 Subs... a pair if 4+4 DVC are best Class D or T Mono amps, depends on the brand and model. Some do a 2 ohm load fine. A few will do 1 ohm loads and offer more power than at 2 ohms. Can give you more details as you determine the amp of choice.
