Beautiful car!!
You have two options.. a standard aftermarket single din (normal size) radio, or a special order custom fit OEM look radio.
With a standard radio the dash will have to be cut where the origional radio was ( most are mounted with the knobs ) After this is cut out, any radio should fit well into the slot using the mounting cage that comes with the radio.
A specialty radio such as the one shown here..

This radio has alot of the aftermarket features and keeps the classic look of the origional. This one is a tape deck with RCA outputs if you decide to use an amplifier, and it also has a 6 disk CD changer jack if you plan to add that later.
The only other problem I can think of is that older cars used a 'common' ground system whereas each speaker recieved only one wire, and used the chassis as the ground. This will not work with newer radios, so new wires may have to be run to each speaker. This is not a big deal, and would be recommended anyway since the existing factory wires are probably old and starting to lose some of the insulation, which would present a worrysome, timeconsuming troubleshooting problem in itself.

I'm interested in this too... my cousin has a 1974 Dodge Dart Special he's wants to install a radio / cdplayer in, but keep the stock look.

Do you know of any more sites like that one?

i suggest the stock looking ones,.. my friend hasa 69 chevy truck and his stereo looks 100% original but its got a cd changer under the seat and has some nice options on the deck.

cuting a buitifull old car like this to install a standard stereo would probaly bring its value down.

you can get catalogs that have stock looking stereos for all kinds of old vehicles.. the cheapest for his '69 turck was i belicve 100$ and was a tape deck. the middle ones where 150-250 for cd ones. and then some high end ones with cd changers and what not for 200-500$.

we hate to cut old cars also yet not as convenient for the driver some slight modifications to the glove box or console leaves the stock look with the leisure of technology. The specialty decks like uochronos has mentioned are extremely nice and quite high i believe. but definetly worth it .Im sure its his pride and joy and understand how he feels about letting someone work on his car but all corvettes especially the older ones can get difficult I' sure others will agree that car was not made for that stereo or wires to ever come out(IN ONE PIECE )

The above is a site with readios and instrument bezels included. Prices are higher than you are looking for though.

If you are looking for something more stock with the am/fm/cassette and in your price range.

http://www.vintagevibes.net/Stereos/kenwood.htm

If you are looking for stock mounting and cd playing capacity the above will allow you to add a cd changed but price is over $500.
