Ok guys i'm back i need more help i have two audiobahn alum Q 12's in a crew cab dodge dakota and i'm selling them to get different subs. i like the sound of these subs but they are a little to punchy for me. I want something that is a little more deeper, so of course i'm going to 15's i have a 3200 HC visonik amp so i'm not worried about powering them. but i was think about either the audiobahn alum Q 15's or the kicker solo-baric 15's or some JL's (i know the JL's are a lil high in price) but wha do you think. give me your input if you want to on some 15's that may sound good as well. thankx Replies (6) cplkittle on 08/22/2004 23:38:16 Diamond CM3 Eclipse titanium Fosgate HX2 alpine type R or type X I personally don't like audiobahn, but that's just an opinion. All of the above listed will outperform audiobahn overall. The type of enclosure you have these in will also determine the sound you get from them (sealed = punchy, tight bass; ported = deeper, looser bass) swez on 08/23/2004 17:52:33 You may like the Adire Brahma 15 too. Not cheap, but very potent. Ask Scotty Johnson. He has won numerous SPL COMPs on a National and regional bases with his Brahmas. I think he has 9 in all in his recent designs and topped over 170dB on his last major victory. Swez compvr15s on 08/23/2004 19:59:37 i would not go with the solos but thats just me, i heard some jl 15" w3s runnin of mtx 1500D in the high output slot port box, were pretty loud, but i heard the 13 w7 right after and it seemed to be louder.. it was definintly louder than the solo L7 by far... so id say the brahma is going going to be even louder than the W7 just from lookin at the specs. no experience with the audiobahns, but i did have some L7s and would not recommned them for the price, can get brahmas for 439 for the 15s probably about what the solos are at stereo shops, whichever ya go with good luck. let us know once you get them and let us know your thoughts. swez on 08/24/2004 19:07:04 If you basically like the Bahn Q's, it may have more to do with your enclosure. A small enclosure will make any sub sound punchy and lacking deep lows. The Bahn Q's are more an SQL sub and a large box is recommended to get the lows. Say more about that box... dimensions or cf per chamber. Sealed, ported or other etc. Bahn recommends the following for enclosure specs: Sealed: 0.5 - 2.0 cf (a 1.0-1.25 cf sealed) per sub should bring out the bass well. If ported, here are the specs per Bahn engineering. http://www.audiobahninc.com/frame2004.html Swez Swez beeharp2001 on 08/25/2004 11:57:10 I have a small sealed box 1.4 cubic feet but minus the sub dissplacement its more like 1.37 but i know the Q's really dont recommend you use ported boxes. I really dont have much space but imma look into into those Adire Brahma's 15's and the solo's but next time imma put them in a ported box. And another thing does any1 know the formula for cubic feet for a box because if i get my 15's im gonna make my own box ported instead of buying one. swez on 08/25/2004 13:27:43 Yes, we can help you with cf info when you get your new subs. To help pick your new sub(s) measure the H, W & D of space you have available for the box. This will give us a maximum external dimension. That will dictate the internal cf needed and what sub(s) are best for that amount of space. Bahn Q's are right on the edge for EBP rating. I think it was like 47 = EBP. You can port them in a 1.75 cf enclosure and get a notable boost in low end bass, port tuned at 35 Hz. The box will be large if you have 2 Alum Q 12's now. It would be more like 5.0 cf for dual 12's externally. That's no small box. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
