is that what clipping is? they are 6x9 pioneer 220w speakers and it does it with EVERY cd i own........ and not all of them can be messed up so im thinking it is either the wiring, connection or the speaker

i have the RCA cables and the speaker wire running in the same place........ would that cause anything?

umm is it actualy skipping or does it sound like its just missing parts of the sound... this is either skipping or shorting a wire somewhere i would think.

If its only happening from a couple of the speakers, it sounds to me like a short somewhere. Make sure you double check all of your wire connections, if any area of the speaker wire can touch metal on metal then its shorting out then popping back on creating this type of effect. Go back and check all of your connections and wiring to make sure that everything is nice and secure, and there is no open wiring that can touch metal.

Also check your amp gain settings. The amp may be going in and of protect mode. If this is true, amp may be going thermal on you or detecting momentary shorts.

It is best to keep RCA wires away from signal and power wires as much as is possible. We pick up "crosstalk" from speaker wires and dirty power noise when RCA's are too close to either.

Check the system on FM circuits too. If it does not act this way on FM, clean your CD reading lense.

thanks for the help - sorry bout the double post..... didnt realize it

first off - no amp is hooked up to the speaker
2nd off - ill try the FM but how would i clean my CD reading lense?
jason - it looks like all teh wires are good.... all of them are securely crimped and dont seem to be touching any other metal

Ok one more thing other than what swez and chronos said,,.In one of my old vehicles back in the day (4years ago haha) 3 of my speakers were grounding out. I checked every single connection and my wire to make sure it wasnt touching metal anywhere i though it would. It was very frustrating till one time i actually look the speaker out..and looked where the terminals were hitting at. Come to found out the wire terminals were making contact on the sheet metal in the doors when i would hit a bump or the car moved to much.

Just an idea

PS. Did the ohm posts me and Swez talked about help you understand a lil more?

well actually i havent really heard the car while its in motion..... only when its sitting in the driveway..... but right now ive got the speakers hooked up and in the floorboard of my car (i cant drive yet...... gotta get my lisence...... sdkljfasklfj)

yes the ohms post helped alot

I agree, it sounds like a grounding problem. Did they work ok before the 6 x 9's? Try disconnecting one at a time and see what happens.

ssallstar598 on 08/22/2004 15:22:06
well before i got the car, the speaker wire was shot (iow it was bad) and i re ran speakerwire in the car and hooked the pioneers up brand new and they really have been doing it the whole time but i just didnt realize it as much

uochronos on 08/22/2004 15:55:07
i would check for shorts. if it is getting worse maybe the wire was shorting slightly and the insulation around the wire is wearing threw more and more.

ssallstar598 on 08/25/2004 00:48:19
well just a month and a half ago i put BRAND NEW pretty good speaker wire in........ so it shouldnt be that

P0werLifter on 08/25/2004 01:04:03
Well personally I wouldnt rule that out,,,,Under certain cercumstances wire can get worn through very quickly especially if it was pinched, etc. I would check it just to rule that possiblility out and move on to other possiblilities

agreed the first time i ran wire to my front doors it got stuck to where it pinched into the wire and caused some problems.

disconnect the wire at the deck and measure impedence, and reference to ground.

By skipping do you mean that really annoying like it wants to skip but really isn't kindof in the background of all of your cds are they recorded cds sounds to me like your laser needs adjusting find a service lab near you it only takes a few minto re align

ssallstar598 on 09/2/2004 18:49:46
all of my CDs recorded and real and it sounds sorta like its wanting to skip but its not skipping

uochronos on 09/3/2004 07:08:34
ya sounds like you need your laser re calibrated and cleaned... if its under warranty can problay get it done for free if not then it should be a very reasonable fee. ask the manbufaturer for a list of certified repair shops in your town. for instance pioneer has 6 certified repair places withen 5 miles of me. i would assume just about all HU manufactureres have similar repair shops around. in your area.
