let me start by saying i am a complete novice at car audio stuff
i have a 91 mazda protege with a simple casette am/fm receiver and two blown rear speakers hence i look around for some cheap options and find this sanyo cd receiver along with 2 rear speakers for 82$ (big spender huh)
i was gonna get this sytem in a week or so and just yesterday i went with a friend to circuit city, he has a 92 mercury sable and bought this JVC cd receiver ($162) he gets it installed(another 40$ i might add) and after installation the thing is extremely soft we asked the circuit city guy why?? and he was like u'r car's factory audio amplifier is not compatibile with the jvc system hence it can't get any louder u gotta get another amp new speakers etc etc hence from buying a $162 system he has to pay cool 500$ more for all this other stuff
what i wud like to know before buying my cheapie sytem is that was the CC guy just blowin smoke or is it possible that this sanyo system that i might buy wud end up havin the same problem, uptil now i thought all u do is take out the old system ans speakers and plug the new ones in and u'r all set or am i a bigger retard than people have told me i was hoping i cud buy the system and install it myself and hence save myself $40 on installation coz well i don't intend to keep this car for more than 6 months lemme know thanks

If there are indeed factory amps in this car, that would cause a problem as mentioned. The amps would have to be bypassed and your speaker outputs wired directly to aftermarket speakers as well.

Let's get some input from one of our install Pros on the matter before going any further into this one.

PS It would have been good form for the installer to come out and tell you this car had factory amps and give you some options up front. But then again, CC & BB don't practice good form evry often. All they see is how much $$ they can get from ya.

yes, the factory amp is causing problems... I am AMAZED they did not mention any possible problems, and the easy fixes... If I remember correctly(been a while since I saw a 92) there is a ford premium bypass hrns that should make your life easy. If you look under the rear deck and rear speakers you should hopefully see a hexagon shaped piece of metal with a couple of hrns plugged in. Disconned one of the hrns and the speakers should stop playing. Take the bypass hrns and simply plug it in. It will remove the amp from the wiring, and allow the nex jvc deck to play much much louder.....

Let me know if you need anything else.
