Ok, instead of an Accord, I got a 2000 Toyota Camry. Now I'm looking for a single 12 inch sub, with a sealed enclosure, as you suggested. What do you think about this? Is it good? From what I understand, it comes with the box and the sub. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0002DFK46/qid=1091469514/br=1-9/ref=br_lf_e_9//002-5839400-7800832?v=glance&s=electronics&n=10981061 What kind of amp would I need to with that, if it is good? Thanks guys Replies (3) P0werLifter on 08/2/2004 18:02:58 A single subwoofer application will be a very nice addition to your stereo =) like we've talked about in your past post. WIll give you a better frequency range along with adding "bump" in the trunk. Now lets get down to business shall we? Have you checked around to see if you could find a better deal on a single sub? And have you checked to make sure the dimensions of the enclosure will fit in you own trunk and will you have room for your golf clubs or whatever else you might haul around? If you have some Carpentry Skills building a box that would fit a single twelve is very simple and would save you money. On www.cardomain.com the Kicker Comp 03C128 sub is only $89.95 i believe its the same thing, i dont see a Kicker HC comp 12 but i could very well be wrong. Free Air Usage: yes Sensitivity: 88.6 dB Frequency Response: 27-500 Hz Recommended RMS Power: 150W Peak Power Handling: 300W Impedance: 8 ohms subwoofer wiring options An amplifier will be very easy to push a single subwoofer and cheap to buy compared to other systems also.. When looking for a subwoofer and an amplifier to match, Look at the Ohmage of the subwoofer and the RMS value (continious Power the subwoofer can take..NOT THE MAX power.) These sub woofers are 150watts RMS so finding an amplifier that will run them is easy. I had a pair of Kicker 10" comps when i 1st started in car audio and for the money, they are a good deal. Look around more for a better price range and if you can do some carpentry work, or want to give it a shot, We can make it even cheaper for you. =) ~Jason TigerFan20 on 08/2/2004 18:35:13 Alright man, thanks a lot. I won't be able to do anymore shopping around for about a week, cause I need some money :) But I'll let you guys know what I find. Thanks swez on 08/2/2004 19:16:29 Not a bad little package for the price...but this is from Crutchfield. Prices are a bit higher through Crutch... but they are great at customer service to support you as well. This sub sells for about $50.00 w/o enclosure. Also, this is a Kicker Comp, 4 ohm sub, 150 watts RMS. Will give some bump, but not thunder. The Kicker Comp VR (4+4 coils) has more power handling ability and can be wired for 2 ohms. This allows us to use a Class D mono amp which are cheaper, more power and 2 ohm stable. You may want to break out your budget sheet and figure out how much you are willing to spend on a sub, enclosure and amp. With that information handy, we can show you a few options that fit in your budget. There are many quality subs out there to be had for under $125.00 and can handle 300-500 watts RMS. In your case, 300 watts RMS is plenty unless you are willing to add electrical upgrades to accomodate a larger amp. General Info: Sub amp: 300 watts, Class D.................$150-200.00 Quality SQL Sub: DVC (4+4 coils).........$85-125.00 Enclosure: Sealed enclosure, ~1.0 cf......$60-90.00 Install wiring kit......................................$25-40.00 NOTE: If you are handy or have friend who can help make a box for you, this can cut costs too. Materials for a 1.0 cf enclosure will run about $45.00. Can buy a 1/2 sheet (48" x 48" x 3/4") of 3/4" MDF board, have panels cut to size and just assemble and cover as you prefer. All you need here are screws, glue, some small brad nails and a jiz saw to cut your hole for the sub. A rookie can do one of these in about 4 hours.
