I have a 1987 NIssan Sentra. Right now, I have an AM radio. I plan on buying a cheap tape deck, and then a CD adapter for a portable CD player to plug in to the tape deck, so I can play CD's. I was wondering what kind of tape deck would fit in my car (since I have no idea where to even begin), and also how/what I need to install it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Replies (3) compvr15s on 08/1/2004 02:56:58 well if your gonna buy a cheap take deck, why dont you just get a cheap cd player and make it easy on yourself, just as easy to install and wont need the cd adapter for the discman. can get a cheap cd player for under 100 dollars i would say that will work better than what you mentioned. i would assume any single din player would fit, not sure what your dash looks like. would recommend a wiring harness to go from your factory harness to your head unit, makes things much easier and looks alot better. good luck uochronos on 08/1/2004 03:09:29 the cheapest cassette player at the local car stereo cahin here is 79$ and the cheapest cd player is 100$ and free instalation. http://www.cartoys.com/cartoys/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Product_ID=62104 that is an example. so figure 80$ for after market cassette and 15$ for the cd adaptor. which when i had one i went threw 3 tape deck cd player adaptors in a year. they get damaged very easy. so for 20$ more you can get a cd player and cut out all the inb\etween stuff. swez on 08/1/2004 10:07:25 Agreed... if you plan to keep this car for a while, invest in a decent aftermarket HU with the features you want, all in 1 package. The TAPE/CD convertor is a poor quality patch and all the loose wiring is a pain as well. These kits just don't give the same quality CD reproduction as a real CD player. However, if you have a lot of tapes you still enjoy, go for a 3 in 1 HU. I believe that Nissan has a 1.5 din or maybe 2.0 din opening for the factory radio. There are aftermarket products out there that will drop right in with minimal trim work. Jensen, Pioneer and a few other brands have 3 in 1 HU's... but they are not cheap. Check out Crutchfield site for: "WHAT FITS MY CAR" and go from there. Don't have to buy from them. But at least you will know what will fit and a ballpark price to start. http://www.crutchfield.com/ Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
