I am putting in a patio and hot tub on the side of my house. I am going to run some external speakers and had considered using my pc as the source since it would be in the room you go through to get to the new patio. I had a crazy idea as I know there are wireless video senders for home audio, but do they make them for pc's? I had considered being able to take the monitor(flatscreen) ouside and simply hook it up to pwr for dvd's as well as possibly cable tv. Would a wireless mouse work with an external sensor? thanks.... Would I be able to sit ouside with just pwr hooked up to the monitor, and be able to do whatever on the computer? Wireless mice can go pretty damn far... I've taken one across a house and it still worked; no problem there. Do you already have the speakers for your computer? uochronos on 07/30/2004 22:33:34 there are many wireless transmitters they have a very high quality one at best buy here in portland for 99$ very strong range and al the inputs out puts you need. as far as a wireless mouse you well need a sensor with no obstructions between you and the mouse infra red sensors need some line of sight to get the signal there. my computer is in my spare bedroom and is run to my computer over a rca cables. they are white and ran alon the edge of my cieling and cant be seen unless your looking. swez on 07/31/2004 08:43:39 Sounds interesting there ttocs... my neighbor had a HU and 4 speakers installed in his hot tub. It sounded pretty good with 6.5" coaxials, but the HU kept going out on him. He replaced it 3 times in one season as it did not take the heat and humidity well. Marine type speakers may be a better option here. Also, not sure how well a Flat screen will like heat and humidity as well. May have to mount that outside the tub area as well. As for audio, can always patch your sound card to a remote controlled stereo unit and DVD audio into that. Can use wired or wireless speakers too. As for video, the others seem to have a good handle on what options to use. Swez ttocs on 08/1/2004 16:37:57 speakers would be mounted outside on the wall and hardwired to an amp I currently have. here is what I am thinking.. out of the comuter with this... cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI...28258&rd=1 into a wireless video sender with IR repeater(cable mouse) cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI...42308&rd=1 I want to make a frame/box to hold my monitor, the video reciever, a small surge protector, and a rca/vga converter(below) if the cable used above will not work. cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI...26684&rd=1 I am hoping that the cable mouse/IR repeater would work with the wireless mouse and keyboard. I don't know if they are all compatable, but it is just a repeater right? The sensors would be mounted with the monitor, and then also with the PC or tthe base to the sender. All of this along with a TV/FM tuner card and I am hoping to take the frame with my monitor and stuff outside, and plug it in. If the repeater works I should be able to use the mouse and keyboard to access all functions of the pc to play TV, DVD's, MP3's, CD's, through some externally mounted speakers, while watching the monitor. Sound good? If it works it would be kewl huh??????? swez on 08/1/2004 19:06:14 You might have an interesting project brewing there ttocs. Hope all goes according to plan. Swez aposynthesi on 08/1/2004 19:36:53 Those links don't work... notice the three dots before the numbers, thats due to the links being too long for a certain field. Keyboards can take a lot more wear than people think... they will only short if you get water in the top right part of the keyboard (where the LED's are)... or if you have a keyboard with quick access buttons on the top... there also. Mice are a little different though... they WILL short if water (humidity from the pool) gets inside them. Just from reading what you've put... it seems like you have everything down... if you have any problems with the computer let me know. I'd invest in a dehumidifier to put out there too... just incase. Good luck, Sean ttocs on 08/1/2004 22:27:56 I live in desert of phoenix... We don't use towels here, your dry 2 mins after you get out.
