I cant seem to figure out the problem. I have 1 12" Rockford Subs hooked up to a 2 channel amp bridged 200x1. The amp power light comes on and looks like it's working but the sub doesnt' work at all. I checked all the connections and none are loose so it's all hooked up right. I also have a 1/2 farat cap. as well I don't know if that could be the problem, but do you have any idea why it's not working? f

turn your amp down and try another speaker on it see if it plays if so somethings wrong with the sub [i hope not] if not then come back and we'll see what we can do

Here are some troubleshooting steps:

1. Is there audio input to amp?
2. Set amp gains at midpoint for initial tests
3. Does the subwoofer work?
4. Is the bridging mode wiring done correctly?
5. Ground amp to bare metal

Can use a walkman or similar audio player as input device to amp. A headphone jack/RCA patch cord will do nicely here. If you get sound out of amp and sub, audio input wiring is faulty.

Check the sub with a 9 volt battery. If the voice coil and wiring to sub is OK, there will be audible clicks and pops heard from the sub. If you do not hear anything, pull sub from enclosure and retest again. Still no sound??? Sub has a problem. Can also connect sub to home stereo output and determine if the sub works that way too.

If there is input to amp that is good, and the sub is working properly, the last option is amp wiring or electrical problems within the amp. Double check all wires in and out of amp, gain settings and such. If that does not get things moving, drop by a local shop and have them review your system. They may spot something you overlooked or help determine the root cause.

It would be worth a few bucks to have a Pro Installer go through the system for you.
