Hey I'm new with car audio and im trying to help my friend wire up his amp and subs and Im having a hard time finding detailed descriptions on how to hook up two subs to an amp and then hookin up the amp with a wiring kit. Any information would be greatly appreciated thanks! Replies (6) swez on 07/24/2004 09:20:33 OK, tell us what subs he has and amp too. Make and model with weblinks is the best information. We can walk you through the steps to connectivity, based on that detail. Swez topazdriver on 07/24/2004 15:16:27 He has two 8" mxt's and a boss amp. He doesnt want anything really big so he just went with an inexpensive aqmp kit. It has all wiring needed. He also has a pioneer stereo alreasy installed. Bigeazy4387 on 07/24/2004 16:28:22 what ohm's are the voice coil[should be printed on speaker somewhere] what is the model number of the amp[should be on amp] Bigeazy4387 on 07/24/2004 17:41:33 as far as wiring the amp power goes directly to the battery[must have an inline fuse as close to the battery as possible it should come with the amp kit] the remote[blue]wire goes to a switched power[a wire that only comes on when the key is turned on]and the ground goes to a spot on the body of the car where you can secure it to bare metal. but hook it up like this, first find a good ground and secure the wire to it then hook the other end to the amp.next find your switched power hook the wire to it the hook it to the amp next unhook the positive wire on the battery secure your power wire to it cut the wire put your inline fuse as close to the battery as possible hook it up the hook the other end of the power wire to the amp and reconnect your battery when you turn your car on the amps light should turn green if not promptly turn the car off and disconnect all wires from amp and contact us ps do not connect the speakers just yet we will help you with that swez on 07/24/2004 17:48:12 MTX subs come is several ohmic values. The most common are 4 ohm and 8 ohm. The least common is a 12 ohm version. Lets assume these are 4 ohm drivers. (speakers) If the Boss Amp is a 2 channel amp, wire one speaker to each channel. That is the safest WIRING option we can give you w/o additional details on model numbers of sub and amp.
