bass cube is a 1 band parametric EQ built by phoenix gold to maximize bass performance... ttocs is right if you just want SPL from if the bass cube is excelent for that i have been impressed by the few installs i haev seen them in. although i personaly have never heard it with and without.

I just purchased a Audio Control Epic-160...Bass Maximizer that has a Voltage Meter , SPL meter that reads up to 169Db, with some other goodies. Shipped from Ny On ebay i got it for $236. Ive heard great things from Audio Control. Might be a good idea to check into it also. Go to

http://www.audiocontrol.com/MobileAudio/Products/InDash/Epic160.html

check it out and download the PDF file if you want to read the manual about all the goodies =)

Have a look at the Bass 10 from PA. This may be adequate to your needs and probably a lot cheaper than A/C or Bass Cube.

The FAQ section and diagnostics are also very good at this site. Good general information for the layman and intermediate as well.
