Prev :: Next I have a problem with my inifinity kappa 255a amplifier and believe it is a common problem because it has happened to others. This is a multi channel amp 5CH rated at 4 X 50 & 1X 200. My problem is that the output for the subwoofer channel does not work but the other 4 channels work fine. I know this is common problem because I have read others talk about it online and just wanted to gain as much knowledge about the issue that I can. I'm hoping that someone else out there has had the same problem and could tell me something to narrow it down. Anything you could tell me would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time. Joseph Replies (2) uochronos on 07/23/2004 15:55:07 well the 4 channel part of the amp and the 1 channel part are differnt components it does not surprise me that one could go out and the other could work.... seems it probaly melted or blew a component in the amp if your gettring no output. swez on 07/23/2004 19:37:40 Did the sub channel ever work since you have owned it? As Chronos mentioned, the sub channel is a separate amp channel in the same case as a 4 channel. Am not familiar with this specific model, but it seems as you have noted others having the same issues... I'd be open to wondering if that sub amp is not well designed or has a few quirks. Have you tried contacting Infinity Techs on the matter and see what they know about this issue? They may have a few simple fixes to try or point you in the right direction. It could be blown output transistors, power supply issues or input signal related. The trip to a good bench teck will set you back about $60.00 plus parts. Swez PS Have you ever removed the outer shell and inspected the inside of the amp for obvious visual flaws like burn marks on the board, fried capacitors, resistors or other similar items? Have a peak a report what you see. Obviously, remove amp from vehicle and no power to it while inspecting. Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
