alright i decided to keep my 18's and i was wondering at what hertz should i tune my box, the chambers are seperated and are aproximatley 1.83cu.ft. or 3161.812cu.in.. the demensions are 38"Wx18"Hx12"L and the ports will be on top. the subs are kicker compvr model#c18d [1999 series] and i have had past experiences with some kickers in vented enclosures so i think that is what i will use with these. my amp has a ssf but it only drops to 30hertz so the box will definetly have to be tuned above that. i need to know what size should the width and height of the port be[i was thinking something like 3"hx18w"].
my main focus here is spl but, listen to hard rock and sealed it sounds just like i got a drum set in the back i dont want to change that . i hope i gave enough information and thanks for any help

hmm not sure on dimensions of port but just wanted to give a little helpful input.
first yor SS filter only going to 30hz not a problem most boxes are tuned above that. also anything below 35hz is hard to hear....
also if you listen to mainly rock sealed may work out better for you 18" woofer in a ported box are probaly going to only put out real low frequencies well... you well lose some of that drum like sound you are talking about it wont be as snappy or quick of transients. it well seem more mellow and boomy. IMO better for rap, hip-hop, etc then rock and the sort with its faster bass....

alright ill give that up im lookin to hit some db's im going to get another power acoustik amp jus like mine soon also plan to dynamat trunk and doors and replace battery/alternator.i already have competiton grade wire,terminals,fuses ect. mainly the question is about what hertz should i tune my box for comp. another question is should i use like an effects processor or dsp or somethin to that sort. and i only have 1 set of preouts for 2 amps [1factory 1sub] is using a y adapter gonna hurt me at comp.
i also recently got my system registered on the db meter at my local shop i hit 143.3 with sealed 18's and 720watts is that good and can i get much more out of doing what i stated above

if you go ported on both subs you gain +6db if you tune them right for comp you can gain a bit more also an over sizeed box well net more if done right i forget what this is called. but it wouldnbt be good for a daily driver then. i would say you can hit 150db if you port it and add more power.

yeh i like it as far as a daily driver im going to come up with a way to seal the port till i go to comp i have the biggest box possible that can still come in/out so i can get to my spare tire
