Ok guys, I got all the components I think. a little refresher.... I am putting a radio/cassette head unit in my '02 Silverado crewcab. I have 1) Sony CDX424-RF cd changer, 2) the remote control for sony changer which also came with a modulator, rca's and cable to run from mod to changer. I am in the process of aquiring a GM9-Aux adapter. Does anyone know or can explain to me how to hook it all up? the mod has a elect connector with 3 wires coming out of it.... red, black, yellow. I think the RCA's go to the adapter that goes to the radio. Thank you in advance for you help, Replies (9) SeVeNX7X on 07/21/2004 09:03:58 you got it.. the 3 wires from the electrical connector = Red - Switched Power [Ignition/Accessory] Yellow - Constant Power [12v+] Black - Ground The FM Modulator would normally have 2 antenna connectors, which you would 'splice' into yoru factory antenna [splice in this case, meaning you would unplug the antenna from the radio, plug it into the mod, and then plug the mods antenna back into the radio].. and you would tune the radio to something like 88.1 to listen to it. But it seems as if you have a mod that has RCA connectors on it, and a Radio that comes with cd changer controls? -- If so, you would get that GM9-Aux Adapter you were talking about, and one end would plug into a plug in the back of your stock radio, and the other end would have RCA connectors.. and you would just put a pair of RCAs between the Mod and the Aux-Adapter Hope that helped and didnt just confuse you.... AkRebel61 on 07/21/2004 09:35:27 The radio has tape/AUX controls. the mod dose have the rca and the antenna connectors too. So if I understand this right I just have to get a GM9-Aux adapter then plug it into the radio unit and I should be good to go. On the '02 silverado I need to find switched pwr and then constant pwr source correct? Any idea where I can get the adapter ? Your support and patients is outstanding. great site to be on thank you, SeVeNX7X on 07/21/2004 09:42:53 yes you need to find switched and constant power.. they can both be foudn in your ignition harness [if you feel comfortable working in there] or you can also splice right into your factory stereo wires.. im not sure if the 02 silverado has switched in the harness.. i know some later model chevys do not and you have to go to the fuse box.. but if you have a multimeter you should be all set... switched = only works when the key is in accessory or 'on', and it does not work when the key is in the 'start' position. -- I honestly have no idea where you can get one of those adapters... you may have to go right to the dealer, or perhaps order it online. I'm glad to be able to help! -- I haven't been on here in a long long time, and it feels good to be able to help people out again! swez on 07/21/2004 10:16:21 Glad to see you back on the forum there SeVe... always good to see old friends return to the roost. HAPPY Swez SeVeNX7X on 07/21/2004 10:18:47 haha thank you :) its great to be back! ttocs on 07/21/2004 12:38:17 switched ignition on GM's is yellow, constant is orange. The adaptor that you are talking about I believe is an antenna adaptor, and you will need 2. Go to your local shop and tell them you are installing a Rf mod and they will know what you need, they should not be more then $20 total... Do you know how to get the radio out? Could not be easier.... AkRebel61 on 07/21/2004 18:36:10 you guys are good. I went home for lunch and found I will need the antenna adapters. the hits keep rolling.... I should been happy with the factory set up... OH Well. anybody interested in a '02 tahoe radio/cassette and sony cd changer set up... HAHAHAHA. I think I just about got this thing ready to go yellow and orange on the truck. cool. Opinion of those piggy back fuse set ups ???? I have seen a few post on radio removal.... I think while I got it tore up i'll get the bezel and other things painted red. Thanx for all your aoutstanding support .... "the Reb" ttocs on 07/22/2004 11:46:40 your dash should easily pull off. The piggy back fuses? If you mean the ones inline on the pwr wires you want to leave those there... AkRebel61 on 07/22/2004 18:45:57 they have these new (maybe) connectors out that you pull the fuse slide in this adapter that has a wire on it and then reinsall the fuse on that adapter. work kinda cool. no CUTTING or SPLICING in required. that way you still have protection and a wire tap too boot.
