Hey all, I was using the HD-642 set for a while until I upgraded to the ES-643 set (both sound awesome B.T.W.). Now I am installing the other one in my buddies Concorde. I forgot how much I dislike the terminals on those crossovers. The ES set is much better (besides having condensed down to a single crossover per side they are a much more solid connection). I was just wondering if anyone has either found a fix for the HD crossover terminals, or spoken with any of the helpful staff over at CDT about the issue? Thanks, Pinch Replies (2) swez on 07/18/2004 17:10:41 Am sure it's a topic of debate in the Engineering/Design meetings at CDT. You may wish to write to them and make your opinions known and see how they respond. How bad of an install is this.. the HD series? Dual crossovers/tweeter control issues? Swez Pinch on 07/19/2004 12:25:29 Well, I wouldn't recommend the HD series for any inexperienced installers. It's not rocket science, but it is easy to make mistakes even if you are seasoned and methodical in your practices. Probably my biggest issue is with the terminals used to secure the many wires to the crossovers. I found that the heads on the screws were too small to put enough torque on the wire to keep it in place. Also, the terminals are removable. On one hand this is nice because you can sort of bench prep your install, and then just plug it in to the crossover. On the other hand, having two potential continuity hiccups side by side seems bad from an electrical standpoint. It's like soldering a nice harness on to wires that already have extentions crimped on them. I probably will write CDT about the issue. Just wanted to get more input before I go whining to anyone. :) Thanks again, Pinch Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
