I really didn't like the Passports gas milage at all!!So,I got rid of it.I just brought a 2000 Daewoo Leganza ;Saturday evening.I'am needing help on deciding what to put into it.The factory speakers are:6"mid-bass in the doors & tweeters in the dash location. And 6"x9"speakers in the rear deck. And a factory radio with a cd player.I'am considering these 6"x9's: 1.)Pioneer(TS-A6990R) or 2.)Pioneer(TS-A6980R) or 3.)Sony(XS-V6945X) or 4.)Alpine(SPR-694A) or 5.)Kenwood(KFC-6999ie) And I want to add components in my doors. But,what should I use?My 4-channel amplifier;is 75Wx4@4ohms stereo Thanks,Clint Replies (5) swez on 07/18/2004 10:20:09 Can easily install your Comps up front if you wish. The Alpines in the rear may be a good option as well. What amp do you have now? (Make & model) Do you plan on upgrading to a good Aftermarket HU soon? Any subs planned? Swez Bassmafia on 07/21/2004 01:15:30 Audiobahn(A6004T) I didn't like the Daewoo that much.Got a 97'Ford Taurus GL now. It's Silver/with gray leather interior. And it's got a power sunroof too.I think the Taurus's take a few 6"x8"'s.And quite a few 5"x7"/6"x8"speakers. With adapters;I can put apair of 5 1/4" components in the front doors. And I'll put 5"x7"/6"x8". I'am thinking on these 5 1/4" components:1.)Alpine(SPR-136A) or 2.)Infinity Kappa 50.5cs or 3.)Sony (XS-HF500G) or 4.)Kenwood Excelon(KFC-XR51P) or 5.)CDT Audio(CL-51) or 6.)Infinity Reference 5000cs or 7.)Pioneer(TS-C130R) Bassmafia on 07/21/2004 01:23:22 For the rear of the Taurus: 1.)Infinity Kappa 572.5cf or 2.)Pioneer(TS-A6880R) or 3.)Kenwood Excelon(KFC-X688C) or 4.)Alpine(SPS-570A) or 5.)Kenwood(KFC-5708C) or 6.)Clarion(SRC5794) swez on 07/21/2004 19:37:44 Sounds like a winner to me. Yes, 5.25" will often fit 5x7/6x8" holes with an adapter plate. Also, some of the better brands offer plate speakers too. Usually a 4-5.25" round woofer and 3/4-1.0" tweeter w/ crossovers. Bahn, Clarion and Pioneer all have plate designs. Some designs have swivels to adjust for optimal high freq performance. Not sure about the others mentioned. That way, you get the ease of install w/ the extra work or expense of retro-fitting. Plate Component speakers are a very good way top go for OEM upgrades. Swez uochronos on 07/21/2004 20:18:41 i fit 6.5 comps in my ford ranger 6x8 holes i built a custom plate out of 3/4 inch black acrylic the hieght of the plate makes it so by time the cone/magnet are to the door they are small enough to fit in the hole. sounds quite nice.
