hey guys....im looking to upgrade my component systems for better SQ purposes. Im looking for a 2-3 component system (seperates obviously). Price range up to $300dollars...but i would prefer to spend less GRIN ..right now i think i have infiniti (but im not positive). Im looking for a good setup...going to buy 2 Pairs...and im building 2 Kick Panels for better stereo imaging out of fiberglass. I also have a Alpine amplifier thats powering my pair of components right now its 300Watts x4 but its scratched so im going to be purchasing a new one also for athstetic purposes (suggestions?).

any ideas? thanks

CDT CL-61a for $150.00/pr. They have 2 tweeter versions. One is silk dome. The other is a Ti dome.

If you want to go 3 way, can add a larger Midbass driver and filter as well... but bulky as you get to 8" MB's.

Others to consider are: Diamond, Focal, MBQ, Dynaudio or Dynavox. None of these are cheap though. The best value in high end SQL 2-ways I know aboutaare the CDT's noted. A very good value here!

I just posted on another thread about this one.. I thought I liked silk, but they just can't keep up with the music I like (rock, pop, metal) I would highly suggest browsing through a stereo shop and comparing the difference if they have a decent soundboard/display up and running. I highly recommend using an adjustable crossover so that you have complete controll over your component ranges. I am getting rid of my diamond hex crossovers because I have no controll over the crossover points. Then again, it all depends on the person... If cost is a concern, I second the CDT suggestion. On a lower cost scale, honestly Alpine type S components have really impressed me (MSRP~$220)..

Agreed.. silk is more natural sounding and may be a bit bland for some types of music. If you you like in your face Rock and other high energy mid/highs... go for Ti domes. They are brighter and really cut through the bass tracks well.

Best thing to do is listen to a few sets of each, with your own CD's. Then you'll know which is best for your tastes.
