its 59" wide, 16" tall, 9" bottom, 6" top...these are ouside deminsions...its got 2 ports in it that are 4" in diameter by 18" long Replies (10) cplkittle on 07/15/2004 08:37:01 somewhere in the neighborhood of 24-27 Hz depending on the number, size, and displacement of the subs and the thickness of the wood. I checked it with winisd using a diamond cm3 15, and 2 JL 12w6s, then used the old fashioned mile long equation and came out with about the same thing. The box has an outside dimension of 4.92. I rounded that down to 4.4 to account for the port displacement assuming the ports are inside the box, speaker displacement (1 15" almost equals 2 12's), and the thickness of the material. A.D.D. on 07/15/2004 15:18:43 the wood is 3/4" think...what subs do you think would work best in this box? cplkittle on 07/15/2004 15:28:11 what size sub fits here? A.D.D. on 07/15/2004 15:38:19 well it is for 12's now....but i can get a new sheet of MDF and make it for whatever cplkittle on 07/15/2004 15:53:57 It is good for a low rms (300-400w) 15' sub, Most 10's and 12's call for a max of 1.75^ft for ported enclosures. you can always block off the box to meet size requirements. 99% of the time we calculate the size of the box to match the sub, not try to match a sub to a box. This would require research for every sub until we find one that matches the set criteria you have (the box). you can adjust the box size for the sub, but not the sub for the box. On the other hand, any 12" sub will produce sound in this box. It may not be at it's optimum sound quality or volume, and you will have to be VERY careful on the amount of watts you put to it, but it will work. Lack of backpressure (too big of a box) will cause the speaker to rip from either the surround or the spider. A.D.D. on 07/15/2004 16:34:49 the only problem from a 15" is the mounting depth swez on 07/15/2004 19:43:37 This box is pretty small of a pair of 12's in a ported configuration. If I have my numbers close, it looks like ~3.36 cf internal. Subtract the ports of 0.5 cf = 2.76 cf left, but that does not include subtracting sub displacements either. That leaves ~1.3 cf per sub or so. I would guestimate this would be fine for a pair of 10's and still get some good bass too. A little small for a set of 12's however. 12" subs that fit your profile: 1. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-epkCGEyWBVb/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=10&g=67700&I=037AWC12T&o=p&a=0&cc=01&avf=N&search= 2.http://www.crutchfield.com/S-epkCGEyWBVb/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=10&g=67700&I=500SWS1242&o=p&a=0&cc=01&avf=N&search= 3.http://www.crutchfield.com/S-epkCGEyWBVb/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=10&g=67700&I=500SWR1241&o=p&a=0&cc=01&avf=N&search= =================================================== 10" subs that will work: 1.http://www.crutchfield.com/S-epkCGEyWBVb/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=10&g=67600&I=1081003DVC&o=p&a=0&cc=01&avf=N&search= 2.http://www.crutchfield.com/S-epkCGEyWBVb/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=10&g=67600&I=500SWS1022&o=p&a=0&cc=01&avf=N&search= 3. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-epkCGEyWBVb/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=10&g=67600&I=500SWS1042&o=p&a=0&cc=01&avf=N&search= 4. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-epkCGEyWBVb/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=10&g=67600&I=500SWR1021&o=p&a=0&cc=01&avf=N&search= 5. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-epkCGEyWBVb/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=10&g=67600&I=500SWR1041&o=p&a=0&cc=01&avf=N&search= 6. http://www.crutchfield.com/S-epkCGEyWBVb/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?s=0&c=10&g=67600&I=575P310D2&o=p&a=0&cc=01&avf=N&search= These are a good starter and sure there are more options. The key issues to address are depth of sub, power handling and voice coil configuration to match your amp. What say you guys? Swez A.D.D. on 07/15/2004 20:23:03 i thought the box was 2.895 cuft without the ports? cplkittle on 07/16/2004 08:10:22 nevermind my posts, I read it wrong and therefore all of the info is way off. A.D.D. on 07/16/2004 10:17:39 hmm ok....so i still have no idea what to get Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
