I have two Rockford 8" subs (both 200 RMS and 8ohms). I want to connect them to a 4 channel Lanzar amp (175 RMS). Is there any way to connect them so that the full 175 RMS power of the amp is driving both subs? (Rockford makes a 4 ohm version of the exact same sub and I'm wondering if I should've bought those instead for this application) Does anyone know for sure? With the 8 ohm subs you will get half the amps potential power this way. Another choice is to get a 2 channel amp and wire the subs in parallel. swez on 07/9/2004 10:27:26 Yep, with the amp mentioned, it would be best to use 4 ohm subs to each bridged channel. This amp will work "OK" on subs if both halves of the amp have Low Pass Filter networks. If only the rear channels have LPF's, the sub on the front channel will not sound very good as it will produce full range audio content if it only has a High Pass network. A recovery option, use the 4 channel as it was designed... for full range mids/high applications and add a modest 2 channel sub amp. Bridge this amp to MONO (1 channel A+B combined) and wire the subs in parallel for a net 4 ohm load. That will work just fine with a pair of 8 ohm subs.
