I'm trying to wire in a line in jack to my car stereo. I know that I can't just splice it into the speaker wires but I am not sure where I should wire it to. It is a single cd player system and I would rather just wire in a jack than use the relatively crappy fm transmitters. I've read that I can just wire in a breakout box but have no idea where to get one or how to make one. If the HU does not have that feature, it would require advanced electronics bench tech experience to do this feature manually. You'd have to splice into the board preamp, insert an A/B switch where "A" is your single play CD and "B" is your FM tuner inputs. If you had a tape player in this HU now, you may be able to patch into that... same plan, an A/B switch is needed. Or... a CD converter kit that looks like a tape, but is attached to a CD player. The loose wire are a pain though. Finally, the output signal from the CD player may be too weak (or strong), depending on the circuit patch you use. Having the ability to boost or cut CD input signals to match the preamp is also needed. All that to say... get a quality aftermarket HU with all the features you want or need now & later, and install that in place of your present radio. Now you can really enjoy better sound and no FM transmitter issues. Swez ttocs on 07/4/2004 12:07:02 What other source are you trying to use? Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
