Infinity Kappa Perfect Components

Hey, i am thinking of getting the 5 1/4 Kappa Perfect Component speakers and they will be the only full ranges speakers in the car so im going to give them lots of power. The Rockford amp i have for them is capable of 200 for each channel. The RMS for these is 100 watts, but my question is this... I know the Kappa Perfect Subwoofers can handle more power than there RMS states, is this the same case with these components? If you have any experience with these please let me know. Thanks

The MAX continous power rating for Kappa Perfect 5.1's is 100 watts RMS. You can run short duration spikes above that, but not at low frequencies. ( below ~100 Hz.)

The good part about running larger amps on any speakers & subs, there should be little or no clipping when you crank them up. The down side of using a larger amp for smaller speakers... you can get carried away with the extra SPL and blow them out.

Finally, a 5.25" cone can only move so much air. This limits the amount of bass power they can deliver w/o breaking up mechanically. If you hear the speakers beginning to break up due to high power, back off on the gains on the amp or they'll be paper weights in short order. Is best to tune your interior speakers w/o the subs playing. Open the doors and step back a few feet from the rear of the car and tweak your gains by that. If they sound clean and clear at 10' behind your car... you can then add the subs to the mix and balance it all out.

PS Be smart about this install. A full range COMP set, taking 100 watts+ RMS per each is a very hefty amount of power to throw at such a small cone set. Listen closely for cone breakup in the midbass region. (80-300 Hz.) If that part seems to be ready to gas out, either dial back on the amp gains or raise the HPF frequency a bit.

also just a thought here CDT has a set of HD comps on the zeb for right around 200$ these takes 125watts RMS

iu have the pair right above this the only differnce i see is mine have a carbon fiber cone and these dont. but near same power handling. my friend has a set of Kapa perfect 6.5 components and i have the CDT's we both have them in trucks and on the same amount of power mine just sound alot crisper and better transients. especialy when i paid 200$ less.... just something to look into.

Agreed, if you have not yet bought the Perfects, highly recommend the CDT Comps. They cost less, sound better and take about the same power as the Perfects.

I think Zeb Audio had them on sale too...

Hey guys thanks for the advice, im looking into the CDTs. Another question, I am going to be putting these in Q-Form kick panels which are designed for 5 1/4, think i can get a 6 1/2 in there?

Some Q-Forms kicks allow for larger midbass drivers. Just depends on the kit that fits your vehicle.

What vehicle are you working with here?

Im working with an '87 Buick Regal. There only stock location for speakers in the front is the 3 1/2 in the dash.

You are in luck! Q-Logic makes a kick for 87 Regal and it will take CDT CL-61a speakers:

Heres' a link and part numbers for interior colors to match:

May have to do a web search to find them in stock and pricing.
