4 channel amp

I want to condense down to a 4 channel amp. I have a 200 and a 300 watt jensen amp, up against soon to be a JBL 600.1 wired at 2 ohms. My amps are loud and i like that. But i want to keep the clarity. My speakers can handle anything thrown at them. Boston's in the front and Excelon's in the back.
Thanks GRIN

What is the RMS power rating of your Boston's and Kenwoods?

Also, depending on your budget, that will give us a better idea of what amps to show you. Comments?

The Kenwood's handle 65 rms a piece, and the fronts handle 80 rms a piece. I didn't want to spend more than like 150 on an amp. I found the alpine MRP-F200, and the us acoustics USX4065 amps. They seemed in my price range.

im not a big fan of alpine amps. If i had to choose between the two, i'd go with the 4065, but i guess im kinda biased since i own one. great amp, id recommend it to anyone :)

Yep, The US Acoustics is in tht range, power and price.

Look: http://www.thezeb.com/caraudio/us_acoustics.html

The -4065 is 4 x 65 @ 4 ohms That's RMS too and under $150.00

The -4085 is similar, but 4 x 85 for ~$175.

I looked at the Alpine mentioned and will not hold a candle to these US amps.

FYI: There is only a 1.5dB difference in output between -65 & 85 versions... not enough to really hear much difference.

I like alpine after working with them. they are well featured and dependable.. It was not uncommon for people to bring in these old alpine amps that had to be 10yrs old. They looke like black bricks that had been heavily abused. We would always bench test them as we were sure that they would not work, they normally did...

I could own one.

So with the US, each speaker will get 65 rms? Making sure I am reading it right. Some are advertised 65x4 or 4x65. Is there a difference in reading that, like one of those manufacturer tricks?

i guess its all just a matter of opinion, i only go for alpine HUs and signal processors, but its all a matter of personal preference. im just not fond of most of their products.
Yes, a lot of their older stuff is good, but the newer stuff is not as good as it used to be. kind of like rockford, they are not near to the quality that they used to be.

Yea its 65rms into each speaker

4x65 = 65x4 same = same... The main thing here, is you are really getting the true rated output as states with USX/USB series amplifiers.

I researched several of the Alpine amps recently to see how they stack up against JBL, US Acoutics, RF, KICKER and such. I found that you get an honest power rating with JBL and US Acoustics. RF is beginning to "fudge" the numbers like most off shore made brands...from Japanese, Chinese and Taiwan based makers. In short, need to understand the way the specs are written. They may be true & factual.... but skewed as well, but a trained eye can catch it.

My Dad use to say: "Son, figures don't lie... but liar's can figure" !!!
Well, he was right... may he rest in peace.... now I know what he meant!
