Hey folks, IDEA Crutchfield has a short 10 question test to see how well one knows key points about subwoofers and amp choices. It takes about 2 minutes or less to take the test and get your answers scored. Here's the link: http://www.crutchfieldadvisor.com/I-rENLcUHC/reviews/20040518/M-UL538/subs_amps_quiz.html It's all common sense and the more experience one has about sub systems, the better the score. I would wager most Golds will get 90-100% correct. (I sure hope so) Have fun with it, Swez Replies (13) admin on 06/25/2004 09:45:10 What did you score Swez? .. SMILE swez on 06/25/2004 10:13:37 What do you think Walt? HAPPY Will post that info later... Swez racerbizoehm on 06/25/2004 10:30:34 that couldn't be easier try this one for a sample installer degree, this one takes awhile got 100 on crutchfield got like 20% on this one lol http://www.ce.org/tech_education_and_services/exams/mecp_exam/mecpexam.htm aposynthesi on 06/25/2004 10:37:04 Man... You got 10 out of 10 correct! swez on 06/25/2004 12:00:43 Tried that link and got a server error. If it's a MECP exam, similar to one I took 2 years ago, am familiar with it. But that test is hard to pass w/o studying the MECP primmer that the tests are derived from. As I recall, several guys with EE backgrounds also took the same test and of the 8 that took it, only 1 passed with 80% correct. Why? The test answers are based on the study course to become a Certified MECP Installer. Some of the questions were so poorly worded or deliberately misleading, only those who had studied the course "doctrine" a while would pass it. Some of the brighter EE's and ET's I know, all said about the same thing. Basically, this test covered Car Radio, Car Alarms, Remote starters, Cell Phone and maybe a few other topics as well. Again, if you studied MECP doctrines and knew them well... most will pass on the 2nd or 3rd try. A few real sharpies will pass it on the 1st go... but working in a shop for a time and knowing the MECP study materials very well... is key. I think I scored a 68 on that test w/o ever reading any MECP pre-exam materials and admittedly... know nothing about Alarms, Integrated Cell phones or Remote starter installs. Almost passed... but lacked that knowledge in those areas noted above. Swez PS Crutch test result pending at the end of the day. Pinch on 06/25/2004 12:55:38 At work we took a test containing a few questions ripped out of a MECP study guide and I definately agree with your EE buds Swez. The wording on some of those questions is poor at best. As an example: How many equations are used to determine the value of a series circuit? Now, that seems like an obvious answer to me...ummm ONE! but apparently that wasn't correct. To this day, I still don't know what the correct answer is. Perhaps they are referring to KVL, KCL, and Ohm's Law but who knows? PS Try this link for the MECP practice test http://www.ce.org/certifications/mecp/exam/default.asp Pinch on 06/25/2004 13:10:10 Hmm, 64% on the basic practice exam... need some work :) Strange, I did beter on the First Class practice exam, (though only by one point). My weakness is definately security (only %40) racerbizoehm on 06/25/2004 14:24:11 yeh i thought first class was easier too Munchiesyumm on 06/25/2004 15:09:38 Too Easy.. 10/10 first test and second test.. And well the basic test is not my area of knowledge but it was under 36% swez on 06/25/2004 22:57:22 See what I mean... the MECP test is full of "Red Harring" (off the wall) questions that either mislead, confuse or are just plain idiotic. However, if you faithfully studied the course materials, all the wording is there in the exact way the questions are asked. If you knew the "manual doctrine" (A.K.A.) learn it the way they teach it... many will pass it in 1-3 times out. The Crutch test is very simple if one has been on this board or worked in car audio for just a short time. Gives a good overview of subwoofer and amp technology out there in today's mainstream market. Swez PS Yes, got 10 of 10 right... 100% Whooppie! LOL UKinstaller on 06/25/2004 23:56:26 whoo hoo!! i just got a 10. how many guys here are or have been MECP certified?? -UK ttocs on 06/26/2004 09:58:19 I was installer certed 8 yrs ago but I never re-certed. racerbizoehm on 06/26/2004 11:53:57 but if you did good on the mecp you would know everything Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
