So a while back I posted that I was planning to take my car stereo out of my car and set it up in my dorm room. Well after my parents donated my car to good will when i left for school FROWN I needed a way to preseve my investment, armed only with support from this forum, some MDF, a 40amp ac to dc power converter, and a table saw twice as old as I am the result was a pretty sweet and POWERFUL stereo system that made the light dim and the walls shake. So I'd first like to start off with a much deserved and overdue thankyou to everyone who participates and contributes so much wonderful and insightful information to this forum. Honestly I would be lost without your guidence!brbrbr Now second, I have yet another question. My speaker cabinits are far from done, they are functional yes, but don't quite look the part. I've noticed on a few occasions that people have added neon lights to their boxes, typicaly subwoofer boxes. How do they manage this? Is it running off of the same connection as the speakers? Or is there a seperate power connection? I could run a second set of wires from my ac to dc power converter but is there an easier way to accomplish this? They are JL XR650-CSi speakers running off of 75 watts from a JL 300/4 amplifier which is running off of a Pyramid 40amp Ac to Dc regulated powersource. You should be able to use the same pwr as the amps but would need a relay going to the remote wire to switch them on and off with the deck. swez on 06/24/2004 13:30:33 Yes, you can easily add LED's to your sub enclosures. They usually need 1.5-3.5 volts DC to operate. If using a 12 volt power supply, inserting correct valued resistor in series with each LED will bring them down to the proper voltage. I have purchased a kit, 3 pack High Output LED's from Auto Zone and installed them into the grill (Ford) name plate on my Dad's Ford F-150 Super Crew Truck. They looked pretty good but were a tad bright. So I had to add a mask to tone down the brightness and disperse the light patterns. These came in several colors and had the resistors installed already. Think they were ~$19.00 for the kit of 3 LED's. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
