To all of you who are Fathers in this clan, I wish to bid you a peaceful, relaxing and quiet Father's Day.
Yes. being a Dad is very hard work at times. But if we stop a moment, get off the merry-go-round lifestyles many of us lead... stop a moment and reflect... how special our task is to teach and grow up our children. They are our legacy, our posterity and our joy in life as we get older.
For those who are celebrating this day with their children... consider yourselves very fortunate. Some, have children (or find themselves) in the military. Being far away right now. Others have children in distant cities and cannot be with them for many reasons.
For those who don't know the joys (and sorrows) of fatherhood just yet... listen to the words of a song by Cat Stevens... "Cat's in the Craddle" (circa mid 70's?)
Find a copy of it and listen well to his words. Our kids want to be like us mostly. If we do fatherhood like this song... our latter days will be filled with Wouldda, Shouldda and Couldda's and many empty Father's Day celebrations.
But to those who lead their families well... I salute you and give you permission to goof off the rest of the day!

Father's Day? I forgot all about it.
After cutting the lawn,weeding,washing the cars,changing the oil,puting on a bicycle chain,running new cable tv wire,mending the fences,pouring new asphalt on the driveway and explaining to my 11 year old why he cant bounce a bowling ball in the house,the day just flew right past me.
This is what the Father's Day card my kids gave me said:
"It's Father's Day,so you deserve a day of peace,quiet and relaxation!" The inside of the card said:
You probably wont get it, but you deserve it!
