I am having trouble getting info with my problem FROWN. I own a '02 silverado 3500 dually crewcab p/u, it came with radio/single cd head unit and a slave cassette in the console. I removed the console to get more seating, thus removing the cassette deck. Now the reason I am writing here: I bought a '02 Tahoe head unit with the cassette/radio. Then I bought a Sony CDX-424RF 10 disc changer I want to mount remotly(behind the back seat GRIN. The changer comes without wires (ebay FROWN), so I need to know what wiring and stuff I'll need to hook up the Changer and maybe a Amp/sub and XM to the factory head unit THINK ? can anyone PLEASE help, as I'd like to get this up and running before the end of the month. Thank you

Maybe you could clear up exsactly what you want to do. I believe many people are confused with the project.

Please list every detail so we can best help you complete you're project just the way you want it.

I don't quite get which truck are you installing the stereo in? And is it a stock stereo switch that you wanted to do? It may make things a lot easier with an after market CD deck so it will also improve the sound quality quite a bit and it won't cost very much more considering the work that would have to be done to keep the stock deck.

I'll get back to yah when u clear some things up!

Have a nice day!

Is this an RF signal type changer? (seems so) The kind that you install between Antenna and HU and has it's own RF transmitter that sends signals to factory HU on FM band frequencies?

Usually, you need a 12 volt power cable harness, an antenna coupling harness and install manual to guide you through all this. Can try the Sony web site for these details and maybe even download the manuals from site as well.

Sony is one of the worst at Tech support for older products, so don't be too suprized if you have to write directly to Sony Technical for details. The missing electrical hardwar you need may be found at local install shops or BB/CC installer bays.

Here's the Sony web site... good luck!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the cables are expensive.
I had a lady come to the shop the other day with one that she had 'cut' out of another truck. she still had all of the wires except the rf modulater (also known as FM mod.)
Since the wires were cut from the controller and the changer, I had to call and get prices on both for replacement. The FM mod and wires were $95. The wired controller was $68, add $20 for shipping and you are at $183.. that's $16 less than the sony 10 disk changer we sell that's brand new.

Ok, to clear up/make the waters muddier - I have '02 silverado. I bought a radio/cassette gm headunit wich I will R&R the original headunit in the truck('02 silverado). So I want to put in this (OTHER) gm factory unit and also add a Sony CDX424RF 10 disc changer. I bought the changer off of ebay. Problem is I got no connecting cables with it. Suppossedly I don't need a fm modulator as the changer is plug n play. just not sure about the wiring part ??? Now the other part to my list - As money permits I would like to add xm, and then add an amp with some speakers. those should all come pretty much ready to install. does that help ? any questions plz email me @ WRHoward61@hotmail.com. Thanx guys.

without a sony head unit you will need a modulator, and without the cables it is not plug and play.

You may wish to go back to the seller and ask if the cables and RF Mod are still in his/her hands. If yes, get them. If not... you have a case of fraud pending against the seller if he/she did not indicate the cable and RF modulator were missing.

Other than that... you are S.O.L. (sure outta luck)
