i have a 1993 chevy cheyenne 1500. i am trying to put a new stereo into it but am having some problems. One i took out the radio unit and cassette player and have all the wires but am clueless on what each one is. Two i can't find the antenna connector. I have a pioneer DEH 4500MP and have the install kit and wiring harness but can't get farther than that. Just really need help on how to wire everything in. Thank you. Replies (9) UKinstaller on 06/17/2004 01:48:54 first thing you need to do is wire the harness coming out of pioneer radio into the wiring harness that you bought. just match up all of the colors and tape off anythign that you do not need. the harness plugs right into the factory one. what do you mean you can't find your antennta connector?? it should have plugged into the back of your factory radio. once you do find it, you will notice that it will not plug directly into your new radio. you need to buy an antennta adapter for chevy's if you do not already have one. it is very simple, just plug one end into the radio and the other into the antenna plug. after you do all that, you need to assemble your dash kit. once you do that, remove the metal sleeve around the pioneer radio by bending the long tabs on the sides out, and the sleeve should just slide right off. be sure to bend the tabs back in once you get the sleeve off. take the sleeve, a.k.a. the cage, and insert it in the opening in your new dash kit. using a flat head screwdriver, bend some of the metal tabs all around the cage, securing it into place. after you get the cage in place, mount the kit into the opening in your dash that the old radio was in. finally, plug your radio harness and antenna into the pioneer deck and slide it into place, and that's it!! i hope you needed help doing all of that, because i just typed a lot and realized that all you asked was about wiring. oh well...... -UK ttocs on 06/18/2004 06:03:25 well said mang... swez on 06/18/2004 17:29:46 Yup... 3 cheers and few pints of your favorite ale to the UKinsaller Mang. Uhmmm, I like Black & Tans or Guiness would be fine... what about your fav brews there ttocs? Swez HAPPY ttocs on 06/19/2004 03:18:13 I quit drinking actually... After the peru trip last year that had me hospitalized for 8 days with an intestinal virus, my system just doesn't handle it well anymore. Didn't realize how much I drank until I had the money in the bank at the end of the month.... so, that will be a water with lemon fer me. Water is nice on the 115 degree days here........... UKinstaller on 06/19/2004 10:14:31 miller light or nothing for me. low carbs. it's the reason i had to come home from college and go to the local university. oops!! -UK ttocs on 06/20/2004 02:46:09 carbs made you switch schools? Munchiesyumm on 06/20/2004 03:45:20 sure as hell would made me switch schools.. carbs man. ;) UKinstaller on 06/20/2004 10:03:10 naw, i switched schools because i went from never having a drink in my life to becoming a "party animal". miller light was my brew. that was when i went to the University of Kentucky. I am starting at the University of Louisville this fall. -UK swez on 06/20/2004 10:30:52 Gee ttocs, guess your body has to de-tox for a time and yes, water and lemon are much better for proper hydration in that kind of heat. Beer, alcohol, coffee, tea and other caffine drinks (pop/soda) all help to de-hydrate the body. Gatoraid (or similar drinks) are a good energy drink when mixed with water. A 50/50 mix tastes good, good for rapid energy and hydration, but not too bad on carbs. In the evenings when it cools down here, (mid-70's) my neighbor and I like to kick back, relax, shoot the bull and sip a few brews. I like Bud Ice. He likes regular Bud. A 40 oz jug is about all I can manage. He can do a pair of them with little noticable effect. (Big guy) The 40 oz., jug is pretty cheap here... 3 jugs for $7.40 + $0.30 deposit return. That's about $0.06/oz. or 72 cents a can. We get killed with high "sin taxes" and a 10 cent deposit fee here in MI.. home of the "Joe six-pack" auto workers. (guys with fat wallets and beer bellies to match their drinking/eating habits. FYI: A recent study of the general Michigan population states Mighiganders are the "most obese people group" in the lowser 48 states. Too many carbs, lots of junk food and too much time in front of the "Boob Tube" during the long winters. So far, am maintaining a decent balance of weight/height ratios for my body frame. 6'3", 220 lbs and not big on the gym scene. But walking a few miles every few days seems to do a good job.... want to get back on my bike soon... when it stops raining... the bike will come out soon after. My summer target is 205, winter is 215-220 lbs. Swez PS So much for personal Bios huh? Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
