Hey I'm just starting to get into the car audio game and I was wondering if you guys here could help me out. You all seem very knowledgeable in this field. Currently I have a JBL 300.1 amp and I am looking for a 12" subwoofer. I have narrowed it down to these three: Cerwin-Vega V-Max 12 - 300w rms 12" Apline Type R - 300w rms 12" Kicker CompVR - 400w rms They all seem very similar on paper, but I am looking for a good mix of SQ and SPL. I want to feel the lows but still sound clean. Thanks for the help, Josh P.S. This amp is a 4/2 ohm amp right? But the manual stats that it needs a 1 ohm load min. Would the amp draw more current at 1ohm vs. 2ohms? Replies (3) uochronos on 06/8/2004 22:36:40 the alpines are very good sq and spl mix and are a very reasonable price as well. i would suggets these from the 3 listed. also you are new here we try to keep it a PG rated forum so as all can feel welcome and your name is somewhat past a PG rating. if you would not mind changing it to a slightly more apropriate name that would be wonderfull thanks and hope to see you much more on are board FINGERBANG on 06/9/2004 00:51:13 Hi sorry about the name, its from an episode of South Park. It is a DVC (4+4) sub and if you use only 1 of them, just wire both coils in parallel for a 2 ohm load. The JBL BP300.1 nets the same RMS power out in 1 or 2 ohm loads. 1. SWR-1241D Type-R Series Subwoofer (4+4 DVC) Dual 4-ohm voice coils, Kevlar™ reinforced pulp cone, Santoprene rubber surround, 100-300 watts RMS power range, 24-1,000 Hz frequency response. http://www.hookedontronics.com/show_product_details.jsp?cid=976&c=0406PriceGrabber&b=Alpine_SWR-1241D $108.00 for 12" Alpine sub. 2. SWR-1041D Type-R Series Subwoofer (4+4 DVC) Dual 4-ohm voice coils, Kevlar® reinforced pulp cone, rubber surround, 100-300W RMS total power range, 28-1,000 Hz frequency response. http://www.hookedontronics.com/show_product_details.jsp?cid=1191&c=0406PriceGrabber&b=Alpine_SWR-1041D $98.00 for 10" version of same. These are the best prices I have found on the web for this sub series. Don't know much about this vendor though. They are listed by several rating services. So I am assuming they do a good job delivering what you buy. There are better know sites out there to buy from... but they charge more too. Can do a google search with either sub p/n and see what pops up. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
