Im trying to put a used alpine cd head/player into a 944, the model is 7864. i accidently pluged the wrong power cords in at first but i smaked my self on the head and switched them when i took another look... it hasnt been wanting to turn on, ive heard on some players you need to enter a code or wait a period of time... i was wondering if anybody knew how to install it or how to get the thing to even turn on. FROWN i would appretiate any help. ~carracer944 Replies (5) UKinstaller on 06/6/2004 20:13:18 don't take this personal, but check your spelling before you post my man. very hard to read. anyways, there is no activation code necessary for that alpine. just make sure you have a good connection for your constant 12v, your switched 12v, and make sure you have a really good ground. also, check any fuses on the radio or in the car that might relate to the stereo. are you using a wiring harness or are you hardwiring?? -UKinstaller swez on 06/6/2004 22:07:23 Yes, the easier we can decifer what you have to ask, the better we can help you resolve the issues. As UK noted, an aftermarket wiring harness is a great time saver. It connects your OEM wiring to the new Aftermarket harness, then to new HU. Much easier and eliminates the guess work on color codes. Basically, you need the following connections: 1. RED = Main 12 volt power feed of ACC/IGN (turns on the HU etc.) 2. YELLOW =Constant 12 volt power supply line for MEMory and clock functions 3. Black = ground... (ground to floor pan, not harness grounds for best performance and no ground loop noise) A bare metal ground is needed. 4. BLUE = power Antenna REM for OUTBOARD amplifiers 4a. BLUE w/strip= is power antenna feed (your install manual will tell you which goes where 5. Orange = Dimmer control for night operation. Dims with dash panel settings (may not use this if you wish full intensity of display at all times) 6. 4 sets of wiring for interior speakers This very general information. Appears that this is an older model. You may have to write to Alpine Technical to get full instuctions and install/operations manual. Swez carracer944 on 06/6/2004 23:08:56 yes i know my spelling is horrid, i usually type things up fast so i dont bother correcting my spelling, im sorry.. thanx for the advice, i think ill have to get an aftermarket harness.. i also think i need to check the wires comming out of the car. a lot of the wires are spliced and are confusing. ill post again if i have any more problems. thanx a lot ~carracer944 UKinstaller on 06/7/2004 00:10:20 no problem about the spelling buddy. hopefully, your factory wiring is not cut and the process for installation will be a breeze. however, if the factory wiring harness has been cut off, you are in for some real fun in hooking up your new cd player. if this is the case, though, just post here on the board and somebody can aid you in hardwiring your new cd player to the factory wiring. good luck, -UK ttocs on 06/8/2004 12:40:43 I am not going to get on anyone about smelling, or I would have to introduce my self as kettle................... What yr 944? Do you have access to a voltmeter or testlight? Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
