Hello again...I got in a buddies truck today, A Dodge Ram and I noticed his pillers had his tweeters mounted in them. His were stock, has anyone seen any aftermarket pillers for use with tweeters? I've looked all over but have only been able to come up with pillars with mounts for gauges. Replies (8) uochronos on 06/1/2004 20:25:19 you can just mount them directly to existing pillar i have done this succesfully in my truck and another tuck. howevere from advise here i have recently placed my tweeter closer to the mid because they blend together better then, as for after marklet pillars try crutchfield perhaps. pmpn8ez on 06/1/2004 20:39:58 I check out crutchfield and no such luck...I could mount them to the pillar, but I was looking for a cleaner look...anybody else know? uochronos on 06/1/2004 20:54:03 most have a flush mount kit for the tweeter and it looks stock if done right, ttocs on 06/1/2004 23:30:05 Your truck doesn't have them mounted in the arm rest on the door? It really is not that hard to put them in, depending on the vehicle, and your skills. Sometimes ya need a little fiber glass, sometimes you don't. I saw a really neat install on a f150 that was not hard to do. pmpn8ez on 06/2/2004 00:36:10 I have them in the armrest now...but my buddies truck sounded real nice. I have aimed and re-aimed my tweets...but still aren't that lound and clear. (I have Kappa 60.5CS ran off a Polk Audio C400.4) I thought moving them up there would be a good idea, but I'm not all that sure of my skills in this area so I was going to just drop the extra cash to buy a new pillar with a tweeter spot...i figured with all the pillars made for 2, 3, and sometimes 4 gauges that at least one company would have a simple 1 inch tweeter. uochronos on 06/2/2004 01:53:26 idont know how much louder you wellg et on the pillars. mine sound just as loud on the doors as they did on the pillars. as long as they are pointed right the moving of them wont add muhc volume i dont think. ttocs on 06/2/2004 11:20:58 yea that is funny, but i have never seen them sold before. You should also have space in the sail area of your door(behind the mirrors). You could possible surface mount one, or fluch mount it if there is space below. swez on 06/2/2004 11:27:20 Actually, with some cleaver planning and the proper hardware, you can bore a hole in the pillar plastic covers, insert the tweeters, aim them to best sound and hide the wires. Having the tweeters up higher will make them closer to your head and they will be a tad louder because they are closer. The trick is to make them look OEM... not a hodge-podge job. The trim rings should do the trick here. Finally, for test purposes, you can use 2 sided tape to hold the tweeters in place to find the best listening location possible. Once that is established, then you will know where to cut your holes for a flush mount, pro looking install. Swez Copyright ClubKnowledge 2009 * All Rights Reserved |
