does anyone know anything about an alpine MRV T505

I bought this amp a while ago from a freind for what i thought was a good deal ($100 ). It works fine and i made him show me that it worked before i bought it. I've been running a single mtx roadthunder RT10 bridged off of it, it sounds good but i still want to put another RT10 in my truck and i want to know if they will work off this amp. i don't know its output or anything really so any info would be great. also with when this other sub goes in i will have to get rid of my 6 by 9's which are supply most of the sound. i do have 6 and 1/2's in the doors but they are cheap pioneer paper cones that i will need to replace with better 6 and 1/2s, does anyone have any suggestions? One last question and i know its a really dumb one but i was told if i was to experiment with polyfill i would get better sound out of my mtx because of its smaller enclosure, the very stupid problem is that i don't really know what polyfill is or where to get it. any help would be great.

Polyfill is used in quilting or pillow stuffing. Cheap, easy to find and yes, it can add up to 10% internal volume on a small sub enclosure. Worth trying... say 12-16 oz., per sub chamber. WalMart has this in the sewing section. Comes in sheet goods form or loose bulk fill. Either will work.

I remember looking for that amp detail before. Was not in Alpine website, E-bay ect. How many channels on this amp and what are the fuse values used in same. That will give a starting point. (2, 4 channel or other?

The subs noted... are they RT1040's?

not a bad little amp although alpine seems to like to hide it on there site. anyway here are the specs

RMS at 12volt
50watts 2 channels at 4 ohms
100watts 2 channels at 2 ohms
200watts 2 channel at 4 ohms(bridged)

RMS at 14.4volts
75watts 2 channels at 4 ohms
150watts 2 channels at 2 ohms
300watts 1 channel at 4 ohms(bridged)

it is fused at 30amps also

for some reason i couldnt get a link for the exact page on alpines site but just goto tech center then search 't505' and it well pop up.

unfortunatly is the sub you mention is the same as the one swez listed then you would not have enough power to power 2 of these subs if they are 4 ohm subs. you would need 2 subs that where are 150watts rms and 2 ohm voice coils.

the sub that you mentioned is the sub that i own. as you mentioned you said that my amp wouldn't be able to power 2 of those subs so do you think i should get a different amp or are there subs that would work with my amp but would still pound half decent? or should i just upgrade that one sub so i would only have one but it would work better from my amp?br

If you dont have an amp for your front speakers yet, this amp will do a nice job powering a decent set of Comps or Coaxials.

As for a sub amp, if you have 2 MTX RT1040's and they are both 4 ohm SVC's, a modest Class D sub amp will do a good job on them. These subs are a modest 125 watts RMS each. So an amp that nets ~250 - 300 RMS watts at 2 ohms is a good match.

Inifinity speakers 6-1/2 look pretty decent. although i wish i could affor them maybe next year. but i heard them and they sound amazing.

alrite i've been thinking about this and was wondering if it would be possible to run another mtx rt1040 off of this same amp untill i can find a different amp for an affordable price? would this make them both underpowered too much to sound alright, because right now the sub is behind the passanger seat and the bass is mostly going to the passanger which kinda sucks because i don't get as much. so i guess what i'm asking is would it sound worse if i had 2 running off the amp even though they are underpowered, and would underpowering my subs wreck them?

underpowering the subs can cuase clipping when not carefully watching them this well cuase damage to the subs. and yes useing this amp for 2 of the subs listed above would be underpowering them quite a bit i would not suggest it myself.

If you stick with this amp for a sub application, best to run just one sub for now and bridge the amp for maximum power (~200 watts) to that one sub. Since you have 2 of them, you can plan on hooking up the other one later, when your budget for a better sub amp improves.

The other option is to run 1 sub per channel in stereo mode. Not much power to each sub here, if you wire 1 sub/ch., (stereo) figure ~60 watts per sub is all you'll get... but enough to have some bass. Trick here, is not to drive the amp so hard to get more bass, that the amp starts clipping. (heavy distortion) Hard on the amp and bad for the subs.

how would i avoid doing this? i don't really know a whole lot about tuning amps or anything and my amp has like 6 dials and i don't really know what do with any of them to avoid the problems you mentioned. also do you think that it would sound better with 2 subs with not quite enough power but having the sound a little bit more equally distributed or just the one pounding on the back of just the passanger seat?

Lots of guys with smaller vehicles use a single sub. If you went with a ported enclosure, that would make up the loss of 1 sub in SPL #'s and give you more space in rear as well. The other RT sub can be your spare or hang on to it til you get a bigger sub amp.

You may have to contact MTX Tech Service to get enclosure and tuning specs on this older sub. They have a "live chat" version so you can get almost instant details.
