hello all. here is the question i recently purchased a aduio control EQX and plan on hokking it up tuesday when thinking about it i assumed i would turn all settings on my HU to flat and alow the EQX to do any boosting or what that is needed. the problem is my rear speakers well be running off the HU can i set the HU's eq till the rear speakers sound ok then tune the rest with the eq? or is this a bad idea? and if it is a bad idea why?

Your weakest link is going to be the rear speakers. But since they are rear fill and have less power going to them, use the HU to make these sound as good as you can with HU EQing. Once you have that established as a baseline, then you can use the EQX to balance out the front Comps and subs as desired.

The less bass control you use on the HU, the more undistorted mids/high power will reach the rear speakers. That nets higher SPL, w/ lower distortion is your goal here right? Yep!

Then, blend the front Comps to sound the way you like them. Finally, add the sub(s) into the mix and blend to taste.

Good luck,
Swez
