I am thinking about getting the JBL 300.1 amp and its 300w rms @ 2 Ohms. What kind of sub would I have to get to acheive a 2 ohm load? (2+2 DVC etc...??) Thanks, Jay Replies (5) LC1 on 05/27/2004 18:39:06 Also I found this 300.1 amp for sale used for $150 o.b.o. (Canadian). How you guys feel about buying used gear, and do you think it would be worth the risk of buying that amp? Thanks again, Jay swez on 05/27/2004 20:32:46 1st question: A single 4+4 DVC in full parallel will net a 2 ohm load. A pair, in full parallel is 1 ohm and this amp will do 1 ohm loads. 2nd question: That is a good price for this amp used. If you can listen to it before you buy it, than yes I would buy used if it worked. If getting from a buddy or friend of a friend... have to know and trust the seller. Personally, I always try them out or have them hooked up before I BUY A USED PIECE OF GEAR I CANNOT AFFORD TO EAT. Swez LC1 on 05/27/2004 23:22:45 Haha Swez I like that analogy: "...have them hooked up before I BUY A USED PIECE OF GEAR I CANNOT AFFORD TO EAT." This amp that I found isn't from someone I know its through the car audio classified section. But the guy said its working fine and I can listen to it first so I think I will do that and maybe even try to see if he will sell it for less too lol, who knows! Thanks for the advice, Jay LC1 on 05/27/2004 23:25:04 Oh yah this might sound like a dumb question, but is there anything that can be wrong with an amp even though it sounds ok? Anything specifically I should check or look for? uochronos on 05/28/2004 02:35:23 usualy if it sounds ok then its ok. but you can check to see if it gets hot easily, also make sure the wire terminals arnt loose, physical condition is it looks like its been droped or what not. also this sounds dumb but i had a friend buy an amp like this once if you pick it up and hear something rattling inside this is not a good thing generaly even if the amp works they dont just throw extra parts in hehe. other then that i cant think of much.
