Yet another Subwoofer Box question...

Not being very into the stereo competiion area, I want to buy a 12" Audiobahn Eternal Sub. Can i use just a normal box calulator to build a box for this Sub. I'm not interested in it's Maximum preformance, just that I don't harm my sub or myself by building a bad box for that speaker for right now. Then in the fall I'll spend more cash or time on a custom installation.

And on building the box itself, where do you get the info for recommend volume and wood thickness?

Bahn usually gives enclosure details in their web site. They often have several box versions for a given sub to choose from. (Ie: High SPL, deep lows and a blend of the two. This sub does best in a ported enclosure.

Here's a link for box specs on that sub: There is a .pdf in the 2004 sub section of Tech Support section of the site.

Main site:

Also, when building a box for a sub in this power range, best to use 3/4 MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) for the back, top, bottom and sides. When mounting very heavy subs, best to use 1" MDF for the front baffle panel. This sub has a 180 ounce magnet or ~5Kg total weight.

If you need some help, come back and we'll try to get you on point.
