You guys know amps better than I do. How do these compare against each other? The Alpine MRP-F200 can be found at http://www.alpine-usa.com/html/D2_n_1_n_n.html

Click on Products on the their site bar, then go to amps, 4 channel, then MRP-F200

Thanks,

Reid

Hey Reid, having trouble with the technical jargon? You are not alone...

Here's what Alpine MRV-F200 specs say:

• Max Power (EIAJ) 75W x 4 (4ohm; Stereo) 180W x 2 (Bridged 4ohm;)
•14.4V RMS Continuous Power 4ohm; Stereo (0.08% THD) 40W x 4 2ohm; Stereo (0.3% THD) 50W x 4 Bridged 4ohm; (0.3% THD) 100W x 2

Read this as... < 40 watts RMS/ch. x4 @ 4 ohms, 13.0 volts input voltage.... Basically, figures don't lie... but liars can figure !!!

• S/N Ratio 100 dBA
• Bass Engineฎ
• Bass Boost
•18dB HP/LP (80Hz) Crossover
•4 Volt Input Capability
• STAR Topology & Duo-B Circuitry
• Darlington Bi-Polar Outputs
• MOSFET Power Supply
• Non Faded PreOut
• Speaker Level Input
• Blue Power LED

Looks nice yes, but when you cut through the tech-ese specs ... not much of an amp! Look at the fuse rating of this amp... tells the whole story! This amp uses a single 25 Amp fuse.

Here's more:

RMS Power (at 14.4V,20Hz-20kHz)

Bridged 4 ohms : 100W x 2 (0.3% THD)
Per channel into 2 ohms : 50W x 4 (0.3% THD)
Per channel into 4 ohms : 40W x 4 (0.08% THD)

The web site specs are a bit fuzzy to the untrained eye.... need to learn a new language to understand all this stuff.

The USX-4065 is a full 65 watts RMS x 4 @ 4 ohms/ch and is rated at 12.9 volts input power. (dual fused, 25A each I think) Price, performance and real world power... this amp is SUPERIOR to the MRV-F200 !

Would not steer you wrong... been at this for a time and know a good amp whan I see one.... In fact, I own a -4065 and so do many other savvy shoppers.... the US Acoustics amps are solid, well designed and deliver rated power. Lots of the guys on another forum, are very happy with them as well. Come ask them...
